We meet at Kotti (Kottbusser Tor) right in the centre of vibrant Kreuzberg. After a short introduction you will have a broad overview of the history and lifestyle of this special place in Berlin. Kreuzberg was founded as a typical working class neighbourhood in the middle of the 19th century. The people always fell on hard times here. They lived in huge building complexes, some of them in the fifth or sixth backyard. We discover these places in Oranienstraße and try to imagine life back in the days, when it was almost imposible to breathe fresh air; when many people didn’t rent a whole flat or a room, but an 8 hours-stay on a matress. Obviously, most people of the working class had (radical) left-wing views. So Kreuzberg logically turned into a critical neighbourhood with constant demonstrations – escalations included. Your guide is looking forward to show you the most important historic places and will forge a bridge to today’s every-day life and style in modern Kreuzberg. This place is a melting-pot for people of all provenances, opinions, lifestyles, sexualities and incomes. On our way through the streets and history of the quarter, we meet the former GDR traffic-light men, visit SO36, the place of May Day March demonstrations, listen to dramatic reports of attempts to escape GDR, remember Martin Luther King’s visit in 1964 – and we get to know Berlin’s Jack the Ripper. In the meantime, we enjoy exquisit snacks in selected restaurants of the neighbourhood. Dies war eine der besseren Berlin-Rundgänge. Dabei geht es weniger um Essen als vielmehr um Geschichte und Architektur. Dan hat es gut geschafft, das zum Leben zu erwecken.

Es war ein absolutes Highlight! Von Minute 1 an war die junge Dame, die uns geführt hat so freundlich, aufgeschlossen und voll mit spannenden und witzigen Geschichten über Kreuzberg, dass man gerne die gesamte Zeit über gespannt zugehört hat. Die kleinen Snacks machen nicht satt, waren aber wahnsinnig vielseitig ausgewählt und haben allesamt traumhaft geschmeckt! Ich kann diese Tour wirklich jedem ans Herz legen, es ist mal etwas ganz anderes! Leider habe ich den Namen unserer Leitung vergessen (jung, deutsch/mexikanisch?), aber ihre offene und teils satirische Art hat das Ganze noch besser gemacht! Danke für diese Erfahrung und eine Führung, die nicht wie ein Schulausflug gewirkt hat!

Wir haben die Tour zu viert besucht und waren in einer kleinen Gruppe unterwegs. Wir wohnen in Berlin und ich muss sagen, dass sich die Tour sowohl für TouristInnen als auch für Leute von hier lohnt. Dan hat sehr viel Hintergrundinfos parat gehabt und auch die ausgewählten Restaurants waren super und repräsentativ für die Gegend. Wir waren alle sehr zufrieden.

Natalia hatte ein sehr vielfältiges Wissen über Kreuzberg. Sie hat uns die Besonderheiten des Stadtteils und dessen Geschichte sehr anschaulich vermittelt. Sie hatte offensichtlich auch selbst Freude daran. Die Speisen waren für die Lokale sehr typisch, schmeckten lecker und waren gut gewählt. Wir waren schlicht begeistert!

Ich hatte meiner besten Freundin zu ihrem Geburtstag einen Tag Berlin geschenkt und ich hatte eigentlich geplant, die kulinarische Foodtour in Berlin Mitte, zu buchen. Diese wurde aufgrund von Krankheit des Tourguides gecancelt und wir wurden auf die Tour „Kreuzberg“ umgebucht. Sehr schnell hatte ich mich aber positiv stimmen lassen. Meine Freundin und ich haben die Tour sehr genossen. Der Guide Martin, war sehr sympathisch, wohnhaft in Kreuzberg und die Speisen waren total lecker. Wir haben sehr viel über Kreuzberg gelernt und können die Tour auf jeden Fall Freunden und Familie weiterempfehlen.
