Berlin City Tour - City Sightseeing

On the City Tour, Jessica navigates through the many layers of Berlin’s rich past. Through her extraordinary storytelling, we uncover its fascinating secrets – all of which have left their mark, creating the melting pot of diversity that is modern Berlin. This tour takes us all the way from the city’s swampy origins to the rise of the Prussian army. We gain a chilling insight into Hitler’s megalomaniac vision for a new world capital and then move on to the totalitarian Communist regime that led to the decades-long division of Germany and the construction of the Berlin wall. We explore Berlin’s historical highlights such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag and the new government quarter. We take a look at Hitler's plans for Berlin and pay a visit to the harrowing sites of the Führer's bunker and the headquarters of the Gestapo and the SS. We cross the front line of the Cold War – Checkpoint Charlie – and learn about life in Stasi-controlled East Germany, building up a picture of just why so many people risked everything trying to escape to the West. We will also discover the contrasts of Berlin today; just a stone’s throw from the bustling Potsdamer Platz, with its ostentatious modern architecture, Germany's dark past is remembered in the moving Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. We then move on to the enchanting beauty of Gendarmenmarkt and the impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site that is Museum Island, home to a number of gems of classical architecture. Let Jessica take you on a journey – through the city and through time – to trace the evolution of Berlin into one of the most dynamic cities in Europe.

It was a historic walk through the streets and bylanes of Berlin with a local guide who explained many things, showed pre world war state of affairs and scenario after breaking of Wall.

I have travelled to Germany previously but never to Berlin. Almost destroyed during the latter stages of WWII and many years of communist rule (East Germany) the city is being revitalised and is now an impressive tourist destination. We visited the remnants of the wall, the Brandenburg Gate, Check Point Charlie and the Reichstag. It was a long day but the history of this place was memorable. A must do if visiting Berlin

Jessica Cartwright was a fantastic tour guide on a very, very hot day in Berlin. Not only did she get us to all of the major sights we wanted to see, but she made sure that we stayed hydrated and as comfortable as possible in the sweltering heat. She found places we could stop to rest and get out of the direct sunlight several times during our tour, even though it added some time to the tour. Her historical pictures and graphics added to greatly to the tour, allowing us to not only see how landmarks look today, but how they looked during WW II and the Cold War. Jessica also gave us several suggestions for our remaining days in Berlin in terms of places to see and restaurants to eat at. We highly recommend any tour with Jessica.

Volle 5 Sterne!
