Gallerie dell'Accademia

Founded in 1750 by the Venetian Senate as Venice’s school of painting, sculpture, and architecture, the school was one of the first to study and develop art restoration. The Accademia was renamed the Accademia Reale di Belle Arti and moved to its present premises in 1807 by order of the Napoleonic occupying forces. After the suppression of religious congregations and public Venetian magistratures, a large quantity of art works was confiscated. A selection of masterpieces was sent to Paris, to be shown in the Louvre Museum.

The connection between the Accademia Galleries and Venice is deep, as many important works from churches, schools, and public magistratures are preserved here. In some cases, the shown works are the only testimony remaining from churches destroyed during the Napoleonic period. Some of the most famous paintings form part of the collections thanks to the generosity of private collectors.

Beautiful masterpieces by the best artists ! You could spend the entire day here. Truly blessed to be able see these paintings! The museum has an intricate system of controlled humidity and light conditions Well guarded and preserved masterpieces! Very impressive!

I never got my tix emailed I had to buy another tix so I could go in. I have used Viator before never had a problem. Must be the vendor they use.

Never received the tickets by email and send email requesting as they said they would arrive shortly before the tour date. No response at all and had to rebook and rebuy the tickets at the museum on date of the tour. Poor POOR provider.

Fantastic museum for art. No crowds so a very pleasant experience. There was no need for skipping the qeue ticket for the 17.30 slot as virtually empty.

Didn't work. Arrived at the gallery and the ticket office said it wasnt valid and that they couldnt use it. Save yourself the headache.

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. We were told we would have the tickets emailed to us 2 business days before our booked entry time. Never GOT the tickets. Tried calling and emailing but no help. Went to the museum and they said this was a "scam"--their words. We had to buy tickets again--AND CHEAPER-- with no line btw!! So I am out $40 US. What a rip off

Unfortunately, I could not get our tickets to download. I tried contacting the company to let them know that I was having a problem and did not get a reply. Viator warned that this trip was arranged by the museum and not by them. This visit was also non-refundable. So again, it was unfortunate that we were unable to go.

It is an amazing place. I would highly recommend a visit. Bellini, Canova, Tintoretto, so much beauty. Be sure to allow enough time. I spent 3 hours and that was about right. Work was being done some some areas closed. I didn’t get my ticket from this tour so I bought a separate ticket.

As for many other exhibition in Venice you do not have to buy ticket for Accademia Galleries in advance. I read in Trip Advisor a treveller which wrote that he was plenty times in this museum and it was very simple to buy tickets at the cashier. He was right. We tried to buy tickets online but you have to do it at least 2-3 days in advance. Ater visit we understood we could enter without ticket however.
