Valencia

Route and displacement to destination. During this time we will depart from Valencia capital, towards the destination of Bocairent.

Parroquia de la Asuncion de Nuestra Senora

It is one of the most emblematic buildings in Bocairent, where the main characteristics of Valencian art come together, from the Gothic to the 19th century. Built on the old Arab castle, and consecrated in 1516, it was originally made in the Gothic style, and adapted later to the baroque tastes of the moment. We will have the opportunity to enter and let ourselves be captivated by its majestic interior.

Bocairente

Built in 1843, it is the oldest in the Valencian Community. It is a unique and singular piece due to its originality, since it is excavated for the most part in living rock. The mountainous configuration of the land gives the square a peculiar distribution that allows access to both the trawl door and the presidential box, at the top, on a flat floor. We will be able to understand more of how it was made, while we explore its corners and details.

Moorish Caves

We are going to explore the group of cuevas-ventanas, or artificial caves with window-shaped holes, hanging in the middle of a rocky cliff. Located in the Barranc de la Fos, it is the most complex and numerous group, by far, of the entire headwaters of the Clariano river, where there are other small groups in the ravines.

Admission Included

Cava de Sant Blai

The Bocairent snowfields or cellars were used to collect snow and use it later. Despite the fact that this activity was important during the Kingdom of Valencia and in later times, it is worth mentioning that its origin dates back to the East, in the Old Kingdom of Egypt, as well as in Mesopotamia, in addition to collecting written records of a "cold house". in Ur (2000 BC), among other places in the world.

The tour advertises a visit to Paroquia de la Asunción de Nuestra Senora to spend time in the lakes. This is both the main photo of the tour and included as the first stop in the itinerary. However, our guide said he had no idea this was part of the tour and could not take us - a major disappointment as this was why we booked the tour. The caves in Bocareinte were very cool to see, but the listing advertised that the tour was available in English, when it was in fact only conducted in Spanish and some in our group could not understand. Our guide was a very nice man, but he could not translate the caves tour for us, nor did he have any historical information to provide about the medieval town. We are seeking a refund but the company has been dismissive and difficult to engage.
