The city of Braga, known as that of the Archbishops, has in its Cathedral its greatest ecclesiastical power. As such, the current See reflects the enrichment of the various interventions suffered over the years, applied by the different archbishops. Prior to Nationality, this 11th century building is the oldest cathedral in Portugal. This is due to the famous expression "Older than Braga's cathedral" to designate something very old. This is as an over the top tour. The churches and gardens were beyond compare. We were especially impressed with the Bom Jesus church and grounds. The views at the mountain top were spectacular. Diago, our guide, literally went the extra mile for us. He added a couple of extra sites to see. He was flexible and accommodating to what we wanted to see. He was knowledgeable, friendly, professional a fun conversationalist. We were on a river cruise so he picked us up in a Mercedes van right at the ship. Braga is a not to be missed destination in Portugal. I highly recommend this half day tour.

Booked 2 tours, one was a private tour of Braga and Guimaraes and the other was the Douro valley tour. They cancelled the Douro valley tour on us for no reason the night before The Braga tour was only a driver, no guide so the information wasn’t as in depth. He did his best hence the 3 stars but otherwise wouldn’t book with the company again

We like to make the most of our precious time on vacation, so took the Braga 1/2 day private tour on our second day in Porto to get a feeling for the Minho district and the history and sights of Braga. The tour is as described by Living Tours, but being private was adjusted as we went along to suit our interests. At each stop, we were provided with pertinent information and had some time to ourselves to take in the sights and rich history; including a guided walking tour of Braga city centre. Descending the Escadaria at the Bom Jesus do Monte shrine was a trip highlight. A special thanks to our guide Tiago Santos for giving us an informative and fun visit of northern Portugal and introducing us to cork trees, green wine and a local lunch which we enjoyed poolside at our hotel overlooking the roofs of Porto and the Cathedral on our return to the hotel. All in a 1/2 day !!!
