Ballard

Ballard is a neighborhood in Seattle known for Boats, Breweries and Bridges. It is a historically industrial and nautical neighborhood known for a high population of immigrants from Nordic Countries.

Ballard Locks Visitor Center / Museum & Gift Shop

The Ballard Locks are a favorite of visitors and locals alike. Built in 1911, the locks bring boats between the salt water of the Puget Sound and the fresh water of Lake Union and Lake Washington. The Park also is home to a salmon ladder with an attached observation room that helps our local populations of salmon return to their native spawning grounds. Keep an eye out for Seals and Sea Lions!

Carl S. English Botanical Garden

7 waterfront acres with curated gardens & rare plants containing more than 500 species and 1,500 varieties of plants from around the world. Locals visit these gardens especially for the fan palms, oaks, Mexican pines, rhododendrons, and a fine display of roses.

Marvin's Garden

Built at the site of the old Ballard City Hall, this park marks the start of the Ballard Ave Historical District, one of the best areas in the city for restaurants, bars and shopping. No relation to Monopoly's Marvin Gardens :)
