What an amazing excursion. So much fun and beautiful. The Caves were awesome. I thought I would be worried about going into the caves but our boat driver was amazing. Our van driver, RUI (Roy) was nice and knowledgable about the area. After the boat ride we walked around and above the Caves. I highly recommend this adventure.

I chose to go on this tour as I have been with South Explorers before and I trusted that it would be well organised. As someone who doesn’t have a great affinity with water, boats, cliffs and caves, I found it very enjoyable. It was a bit tough on my short legs going up and down the steps on the coastal walk but well worth it for the experience and views. Thank you António for another splendid outing.

This was our second tour with Antonio and we enjoyed it as much as the first. Antonio picked us up at our Air Bnb rental for the drive to Portimão where we were to take the boat tour to see the caves. On the drive there, we mentioned that we were looking for some items for Christmas and he suggested we may have some options after the boat tour. Before going to the harbour for the boat, we stopped so that Antonio could show use the beach area, which is quite impressive, there were very few people, being December, but in the summer the beach in a sea of umbrellas. Portimão is a big town, lots of large rental properties and malls; glad we decided to stay in Lagos. Antonio used Carvoeiro Tours for our boat trip, It was about a 10 person max boat, there were 5 of us plus the captain Bruno and the guide. Using a small boat, allowed us to get into some of the small caves, that other boats cannot. The trip was excellent, very exciting going into the caves and some humorous commentary from our guide. As a bonus, we saw a dolphin on the way back and followed it for a few minutes. After the boat, we decided to forego the walk along the cliffs (we had seen the shoreline already from the water and are staying right beside Praia da Dona Ana in Lagos, which has a km of raised walkway along the cliffs there). During the freed-up time, Antonio took us to a British grocery store, so we could pick up the ingredients for our Christmas breakfast and dinner and to a large store that sold Christmas decorations so we could get a few things for the apartment. He then gave us a tour through the old town and along the water in Alvor, before heading back. Another great day with Antonio and we really appreciated his flexibility to adjust our time with him to fit our needs. Thanks Antonio!
