Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Reims

Any tour of Reims must begin with the Notre Dame Cathedral. And for good reason, it is an architectural jewel, the beauty of which is acclaimed unanimously. Larger than Notre-Dame de Paris, it also has an exceptional statuary: 2,303 statues adorn its facades. Biblical scenes, a gallery of kings, a bestiary, gargoyles, so many stories to tell for the guides who bring you to discover it. Inside, another beauty awaits you, that of stained glass: the first big Rose, which has just been renovated, but also contemporary stained glass, in the works by Marc Chagall and Imi Knoebel, for a subtle blend of tradition and modernity, bathing the Cathedral with a unique light.

We took two wonderful tours with France Tourisme last week: the Loire Valley tour with Jean Pierre, and the Champagne region tour with Nicolas. Both guides were fantastic. There was no way we could have seen so much - in such an efficient way - on our own. Loire Valley would have been impossible to navigate and would have likely required a few days on our own. We could have taken a train to Reims, but we saw so much more being able to drive out into the hills, which was actually the best part. Everything was planned, timed and coordinated perfectly. It’s also great having friendly and knowledgeable guides to help learn more about the country and the areas. The Loire Valley tour was epic… a very busy day to see three very different castles. The Champagne tour felt more relaxed by comparison, but ended up being one of the highlights of our 8 day trip. Great experiences all around.

This tour was amazing with fun-packed and educational activities! Our tour guide Serge was clearly passionate about what he does and did a great job introducing us to the beautiful history of Champagne. We were in a small group that made the tour a lot more enjoyable as well. I was initially hesitant due to the lower cost and small number of reviews but quickly dispelled my doubt once the tour started. We had an awesome day!

Absolutely fantastic trip! Serge - the Gide is one of the best with plenty of knowledge of history of France, kings life, architecture, arts, etc. His knowledge of Champaign region is unbelievable. Unforgettable trip. Thank you!!

The middle of January is certainly low season, but our driver made the best use of our time. Pleasant, efficient driver who made it a lovely, easy day. The Reims cathedral was inspiring, but we wish more of the shops had been open for souvenirs. We had a great tour of the Martel cave in Reims with a lovely tasting. The next stop was Epernay for a second tasting; less charming than the Martel site, but great champagne. The Avenue de Champagne was a special detour to see the impressive, row of houses of Champagne. This visit was followed by lunch on our own, and then a brief stop in Hautvillier and the Abby of St. Peter. Through the the day, the driver gave us good information about history of the area, even pointing out WWI cemeteries of British and German soldiers. Overall a good tour for a good value; we would have liked more communication from the tour operator to prepare for the trip.

Our car broke down 30 mins into the tour, we were made to stand in the cold till the tow truck came. Even then the new car took a while and the tour was delayed further by 2 hrs. Then we set off but we’re rushed to finish everything planned. We got back to Paris at 8:30 pm after finishing the tour. Our tour guide tried his best to make it up and Overall Champagne-Ardenne cellars was good but the tour company needs to fix its cars !!!

Car broke down in the middle of the highway, we waited for the new driver and tow truck outside in 3 degrees. The whole tour was delayed by 2 hrs, then we rushed to complete the whole thing and get back to Paris much after dark! The guide/driver tried his best to do his bit! Pls change the cars France tourism- Citroen’s aren’t working! Reims was beautiful and champagne cellar was interesting but off to a bad start!

Everything about this trip was planned and Antonio kept the trip on schedule. we appreciated that he allowed a few of us to snooze after the morning pick up, only giving us the needed details as we were approaching each site. Every stop was worth it and the champagne tasting venues were perfect. We were not disappointed.

A small group of us had this tour to Reims and champagne region. The driver was very informative and we learned lots about champagne making. Also the tastings where great. The stop at Reims Notre Dame was a Highlight and we also had time for a Lunch in the town. Very worthwhile Spend. Highly reccomended.

We were disappointed as we had done a similar tour with a similar price a couple of years ago. The wine tasting was 3 small glasses of okay wine and we were left between refills in a room which was awkward and not a cellar door experience. The last tasting felt like a filling in of time with 1 tasting and too much time sitting around waiting to hop back in our vehicle to check out Dom Pérignons burial site then whizzed back to Paris. I would not recommend this day tour.

We enjoyed a great day with our very professional tour guide Alex. The visit to Reims gave us ample time to explore the cathedral and its surroundings. G H Martell champagne house offers a lovely informative tour and champagne tasting experience. The trip through the rest of the valley and the champagne museum, put all the information in perspective. If you enjoy the culture of champagne, i can recommend this tour.
