Thank you so much picking Mike Frederick to pick us up at our Airbnb and be our guide for this tour. I can't say enough about what a wonderful guide he was! He is a true southern gentleman and his knowledge of the history of Charleston, its plantations and the people who lived in them is without compare. He was able to answer any and all questions without notes of any kind and relayed the material in a charming way. You couldn't have picked a more wonderful guide to make our trip to Middleton Place Plantation truly memorable.

Excellent tour! Mike was so thorough and I learned so much more than I would have on my own. He picked me up at my hotel right on time. There were only 3 of us which was ideal. He gave us all kinds of information even before we got out of the city. In addition to historical information about Charleston and the plantation, he gave us additional travel tips and restaurant recommendations. He even dropped me off at my chosen lunch spot. I never felt rushed yet covered the entire plantation in addition to a few spots in Charleston. Highly recommend!!

We had a spectacular guide- Mike Frederick! He was very knowledgeable about Middleton Place which enhanced our enjoyment of the day. In addition, Mike provided lots of information and insight into Charleston past and present. He clearly loves what he’s doing and imparts that to guests. By the end our tour we felt like good friends. We’ll definitely be looking to take another tour with Mike when we return.

From start to finish Mike provided us with a wealth of knowledge on Charleston history and in particular the historical district of Charleston & the Middleton Plantation. After he picked us up at our hotel, we drove through the area where the beautiful old homes are and he had so many stories regarding the history of the homes and the current state of the homes. At the Middleton Plantation, we toured the beautiful grounds with him and he had so many stories to tell related to the grounds. We never would have learned as much about the plantation had he toured it on our own. When we toured the home, we already had so much information about it that the docents merely supplemented what we already knew. Mike also provided us with lots of information as we toured the exhibits related to the trades in which the slaves were skilled. In the midst of all of this, Mike provided us with great information as other tours to take, restaurants to visit, etc. It was a Fabulous tour!!

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing! Mike was an incredible guide. He was extremely kind and personable and his knowledge of Charleston and Middleton Plantation was second to none. There’s no way I would have enjoyed this experience as much without Mike’s guidance. I’m traveling on my own and he made me feel so comfortable and happy that I’d chosen this tour. There were 2 other people on the tour and we all enjoyed it immensely. Between the beauty of the Middleton Plantation and Mike’s guidance, it was a stellar experience all around. I’ll be back in Charleston again, I’m sure (such a great place that I’ve fallen in love with) and I’ll definitely be calling Mike again. If I could give more than 5 stars, I’d do it gladly!

Middleton is not only a stunning piece of property with amazing landscaping, but the buildings upon it are steeped in history. Our tour guide, Mike, was excellent, as he patiently explained all the details and made them come alive. He tailored the tour to our schedule and showed us the best parts. I HIGHLY recommend this tour.

We had a fantastic experience. The hotel pickup could not have been smoother, and the vehicle was comfortable. Michael is an exceptional guide. He’s so knowledgeable and so considerate. He took wonderful care of us. We learned a lot during the tour, both about Charleston and the history of Middleton.

This tour is transportation only, no admission included. What to expect: air conditioned vehicle. It was a smaller Mercedes vehicle that seats 4 adults comfortably but not really 5 adults. There was 5 total in the car. There wasn’t much narrative during the drive as to what was listed here under the “what to expect” portion. From past reviews it seems Mike gives the better of the tour. 250.00 for two was expensive transportation when an Uber would of been cheaper for us. Middleton Place is a beautiful and worth a visit. We did pay for the house tour also. The driver pointed out some areas of interest while walking the grounds with us. There was a mix up as to who went in what vehicle at the start. Mike was not our driver. The wife subs when tours are larger.

The Middleton Place was very beautiful. But we didn't think that we got our money worth and that didn't included the tickets into the plantation. All the driver did was pick us up and walk us around the grounds. We had to fit 4 adults plus the driver in a little car. Loved the plantation but not the transportation, wasn't every comfortable for the passenger especially if you would of had older couples along would of been a hard time for them to get in and out of the small car.

Well first off the positive. Technically the tour was the minimum of everything promised. We went there and back did a brief city tour. Plantation experience is really separate and that was very interesting. Ok the negs. No Mike? Not sure what happened but Mike got a bigger tour so his partner filled in. No problem I guess. She rolls up in the small Mercedes which was meant to haul all 5 of us around town. Picked up two more guests and we were on our way. Lucky for us the other guests were lovely. In all didn’t learn too much from the guide but she was knowledgeable and an adequate host. I do not recommend this tour to anyone who likes personal space or a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
