Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann

Begin your Parisian holiday excursion in the Galeries Lafayette to feast your eyes upon the biggest indoor Christmas tree in Paris. 50 feet tall! Wow! Not only will its size impress your kids, but so will its decorations. Each year the tree is decorated differently. Some years it is decked in blue, red, or green, with flowers or glass ornaments. Another year it was hung upside down! Regardless of how it is decorated this year, it is sure to start your tour off with a bang and catch your kids’ attention right from the very start. Take time on Boulevard Haussmann outside the Galeries to admire the outstanding window displays of some of the biggest brands. This has been a Parisian tradition since before WWI! Scenes of sparkling lights and entertaining automatons will be sure to amuse your little ones. On your way to Place de la Madeleine, you’ll travel roads and side streets that have been transformed into a holiday postcard, strung with lights and garlands. It will be a fairytale like experience for your youngsters. Near La Madeleine Church lies a neighborhood with an old-style carousel and Fauchon, one of the most luxurious Parisian caterers. For 130 years, its window cases have provided another kind of marvel. Stroll down Rue Royal and make your way to the Tuileries Christmas Market. Enjoy a warm holiday drink, such as a spiced hot chocolate or mulled wine, before you enter. Tasty! From there, you’ll be able to see the magical lights of Place de Concorde and the start of the enchanting Champs-Elysées. Next, go inside the Tuileries Christmas market. There are attractions for the kids and regional holiday specialties for you to discover. There is guaranteed to be something for family members of any age! Before you call it a night, be sure to look toward the Eiffel Tower during the first 5 minutes of the hour and witness the most brilliant light show of all. Paris is known as the City of Lights. Come find out why!
