    I saw this museum recommended on multiple blogs for families with kids. It was touted as a great way to bring to life Gettysburg civilian life. I was a bit disappointed by the experience. I thought it would be more interactive or dramatic. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and it was fun to see her dressed for that period. However none of our family really engaged with the story. (To be fair, they generally don't like guided tours.) We preferred the Gettysburg Museum of History knick knacks and the Eisenhower (self-guided) farm tour much more -- it's also helped that the latter are free.

    Awesome experience. Gayl was our guide and she did such a great job. Learned so much about the family that lived in this house.

    Our tour guide, dressed in era-appropriate costume, was excellent at telling the story of how the Shriver home was used during the three-day battle. She guided us through the home, explaining each room to us. We worked our way to the attic where the snippers would have been. This is NOT barrier-free and is not air-conditioned so you don't want to be there long. Then we made it all the way to the cellar to where the tavern was. Again, it is not barrier-free and has narrow, steep steps going up and down to the tavern. The artifacts on display which were found during the reconstruction of the house were very interesting and there is also a small gift shop within the home.

    Extremely cool museum. It looks small from the outside but the guide met us in period dress and took us on a very cool tour of the house. Our guide was very informative and a great storyteller. I would highly recommend this tour

    I really enjoyed the history of this house and its owners. Such insights into the way life took a turn when least expected. Our guide was wonderful and I love the house and stories.

    Shriver House Museum

    Guided tour of the Shriver House to understand the impact on civilians before, during, and after the Battle of Gettysburg. Visit all four floors of the pre-Civil War house - from the authentic bloodstained Confederate sharpshooters nest were soldiers were killed during the battle to Shrivers' Saloon in the cellar.
