Palais Benedictine

The Benedictine Palace, an architectural masterpiece of Gothic and Renaissance inspiration, was erected at the end of the 19th century in honor of Benedictine liqueur by Alexandre Le Grand, a wine merchant from Fécamp, who had found a recipe created in 1510 by a Benedictine monk in a grimoire. This eclectic building will introduce you to Bénédictine through a unique experience. They will first discover the museum, which houses rich collections of sacred and ancient art linked to the Benedictine heritage, as well as a room devoted to its industrial history. The guided tour then leads to the only Benedictine distillery in the world, with its hammered copper stills from the 19th century, and to the cellars. Visitors then head to La Vérrière where a tasting is offered* of our liqueur *For adults over 18 only

We did not hear the guide's comments in the spice room, the sound of the film in the next room covering the speaker's voice..... Guided tour too fast

magnificent architecture. one would never think to find such vatiments in fecamp. very interesting visit to the site and in particular on the history of the Benedictine

Disappointed. We had already visited the palace about 30 years ago; the visit was complete: history of the construction in the courtyard, then visit to the interiors, descriptions of the places and know-how. From now on, you pay 18 euros/person, base rate, to do 3/4 of the visit alone. You have to learn the story alone from interactive panels and screens, which are certainly well done, but which do not answer any questions. Furthermore, we visit the rooms alone, even though this architecture and especially the glass roofs would require some explanation. The guide welcomes you for the last part: the manufacturing process, already detailed by a film in a previous room. The guide is mainly there to give you a taste, in the hope that you will stop by the shop.

Locals, come to visit this magnificent site for the ixth time. We had the unpleasant discovery that any visit is now done only with a guide, by reservation. The absence of a contact person (replaced by a tablet) misled us when purchasing a ticket (pre-recorded date for the next day). New complication when it was necessary to request a refund without a physical contact... Very disappointed, we don't think we'll come back. David

I loved the visit, not only because of the architecture of the palace but also because of the history of both the location and the liquor. The tasting is 100% worth it, they give you to try all the liquors except the most expensive. I'm not much of a liquor person but this one is special, it has something that I wouldn't know how to describe. If you go along the coasts of Normandy this is a mandatory stop.

Very nice visit, very interesting. Warm welcome with a little welcome cocktail 👍🏻 The Connaisseur formula is enriching and awakens the olfactory, visual senses and the sense of taste with the stages of the distillation of Bénédictine.

beautiful building, good signposts to it. However, there is little parking space in the area because the streets are rather narrow. So park down along the quay. We booked online and registration went through fine. Surprised immediately upon arrival with a refreshing drink based on Bénédictine. The first part of the visit to the founder's art collection is done at your own pace (45 minutes are allowed). The second part is with a friendly guide who explains everything well and encourages you to actively look and smell. Then an interesting tasting from which we learned a lot. At the end you will also receive a sheet with some recipes for drinks and snacks based on Bénédictine. This visit was more than worth the money.

Magnificent palace. Accessible, we had a great guide! We had not booked and only waited 30 minutes for the next guided tour. It also accepts dogs, a big plus for us. It’s a shame that the waiting time between the museum and the cellars is so long.

Absolutely magnificent visit, I recommend. The guide is qualified and knows what he is talking about, and extremely kind! You are doing an admirable job! The places are sumptuous!

I didn't know this monastery and the history of its liqueur. Fascinated by the building, I entered and could not avoid the guided tour of the interior with the meticulous explanation of the birth, history and production of the liqueur. The price of the visit also includes a much appreciated tasting. To fully understand the history of the liqueur I highly recommend the guided tour.
