The car was quite 'adventurous'..but our tourguide Lino was a good driver ;) aside from that, the tour was informative and fun! We would recommend it especially for younger people!

Lino was the Perfect Guide, fluent in Englisch, knowledgable, Kind and funny. We were clubbed together With an Lovely couple Form canada and therefore Ended Up being only 4 Touristen with one Guide. Our 4x4 Vehicle was spacious so that we Could Fully enjoy the Tour; With the Option of removing the Roof, which we recommend. We Booked at Midnight Pior to the actual Tour and were Picked Up on time. The Tour offers a Great Variatio of different Stops. Nice Villages, Great Outlooks, Adventurares Roads, insights on island spezifications and some nice surprises. ;) We have spend a total of 9 Hours and did get a Great Impression of Madeira and there is a lot to See. Clear recommandation from our side.

So we did the Enchanted Terraces and enjoyed it so much we wanted to do another . We picked Craters of Fire which is really false advertising as nothing whatsoever is involved with volcanoes or craters. The first part of the tour was ok but then we stopped for lunch at this dismal village which only had a cafe and was so depressing . We were then taken to village after village of morbid places where the saddest people live out their days with nothing to do but work or visit the one or two cafes and one shop . These were the dullest places to come and see. They were spectacular views and would be great to explore but our driver Juan(G-wan)gave us tiny tiny amounts of time to explore the places . Had we been given an hour like on the enchanted terrace tour then we could have swam and sunbathed. Then the absolute biggest insult of all was that our last stop was a beautiful beach which was probably man made with a great swimming pool and jump off into sea parts but we were only given 25 mins to stay there . No time all . We should have just stayed in the Jeep and passed the time. Very bad tour, no thrills and certainly depressing

Our guide Nuno picked us up at 8:30 at our hotel, in a great Land Rover Defender, and said the jeep was all ours, we were the only two on the tour, fabulous. Having been on Green Devil trips on previous holidays to the island, we knew we were in for a treat. We set of along the west coast passing Camara do Lobos and down to R Brava, where we explored this charming town. Then we climbed into the interior of the island, with Nuno giving excellent commentary along the way. The twists and turns and sheer steepness is breath taking. At about 1100metres we ventured off road into the eucalyptus Forrest’s. Having been raining it gave the Defender a torrid time, as the track was slippery, Nuno battled to keep us going in a straight line~ great fun. As we revved and twisted along the dirt track , our guide would stop and pick wild herbs such as oregano and rosemary to sniff, along with wild flowers and fruits. Due to the weather we were unable to enjoy the roof being opened, but it did not spoil our adventure. We made it to the plateau, some 1600M above sea level and stopped for a well deserved poncha, which had been warmed ( very nice). The rain had certainly poured down on the plateau, as makeshift ponds and lakes had appeared at the side of the road. We rolled into a small village for lunch, a wonderful bowl of food with wine ( pork and bean stew) followed by the best cheesecake we have ever eaten. With our bellies full we continued the “ Grates of Fire “ tour. Stunning scenery and waterfalls were a plenty. We went from the most western point, Ponta do Pargo, all along the west coast, taking in Paul do Mar, calheta, Madalena do Mar and ponta do sol. It was a fabulous day, made so by our guide Nuno, and of course the trusty Land Rover. Highly recommend Green Devil for your Madeira adventures. Thank~you

Southwest part of Madeira might be less scenaric than other parts. But we had a lot of fun as our driver was Nelson. Fellow travelers were all having sense of humor. 4x4 drive was bumpy. I recommend you wear dark coat. We got splashed from the muddy water. My white jacket turned brown. The weather was cloudy and cold in the mountains but we still enjoyed it very much. Walked through waterfall was the highlight of our journey.

Juan our driver was very knowledgeable about the plant life, with his stops to check his 'garden'where he came back with herbs growing wild on the island. The spectacular scenery was breath-taking. When anyone mentions massages we will be reminded of the bone shaking off road sections. It was truly a fantastic way to see the less well travelled parts of the island.

Just had an amazing day out. Truly breathtakingly stunning scenery. Great fun off roading and getting to places you normally couldn't visit. Highly informative and recommended.

Picked up on time outside our hotel. There was 3 other couples on our trip so it was a full jeep. Once we got off the main roads, the top of the jeep was removed and we could stand up while off road. What an adventure!! This trip had lots of off road sections which were a bit crazy but very enjoyable. It was very dusty and our clothes got dirty so don’t wear your best gear! The views were amazing. We stopped in a couple of small villages along the coast where we could get out and walk for a bit. We ate lunch in a traditional restaurant which cost only €12 for 3 course with drinks. Our driver, Valtmart, was excellent and made the trip that much better for us. He was knowledgable and very funny. We really enjoyed our day out with this company.

We were picked up by Nuno only to be told we were the only ones on this tour! Was amazed at what we got through in a day. So much off roading which was great fun. Never realised Maderia grows so much produce and with Nuno’s expert eyes and knowledge we saw and tasted. Was lucky enough to see some eagles and sparrow hawks. Huge traditional lunch in a small village. Great scenery, steep hills and narrow roads on a much less visited part of the island would never have seen all this in a hire car or bus.

We had a fantastic day out with Hugo. He is very knowledgeable. It was a real adventure, some of the steep roads are not for the faint hearted. The views are breath taking and its a trip we will always remember.
