Place des Quinconces
The square is composed of an esplanade descending gently towards the Garonne and surrounded by planted walks. There are the monumental statues of Montaigne and Montesquieu by sculptor Dominique Fortuné Maggesi in white marble, which were placed there in 1858.
Pont d'Aquitaine
The Aquitaine Bridge is a suspension bridge located on the Bordeaux ring road, in the Gironde department and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It connects the towns of Lormont and Bordeaux over the Garonne. The bridge was completed in 1967 and has a span of 394 m for a length of 1,767 m. It is the last bridge over the Garonne before its estuary, the Gironde, and the Atlantic Ocean.
