What to expect
Plaza de Espana
VERY IMPORTANT! For Cruise Ship Passengers the pickup point is Plaza de España, within walking distance of the Cruise Ship Terminal. Many times there is also a Free Shuttle Bus to City Center. There's no public parking in the area. We will Drop You Off at the Terminal. Thank you for understanding Plaza de España is the largest square in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the entire Canary Islands. Constructed in 1929 atop the historic site of Castillo de San Cristóbal—a fortress that once defended the island from piracy—the square underwent significant refurbishment in 2006 by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron. This renovation introduced a large artificial lake, enhancing the square's appeal. Dominating the center of the square is the Monument to the Fallen (Monumento a los Caídos), a 25-meter high cross-like obelisk unveiled in 1947 to honor those who died in the Spanish Civil War.

Playa de las Teresitas
Playa de Las Teresitas is a renowned artificial beach located in the northeast of Tenerife, near the village of San Andrés and approximately a 10-minute drive from the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Spanning about 1.3 kilometers, the beach is characterized by its golden sands and calm, turquoise waters. Originally, the area consisted of pebbles and black volcanic sand, with strong Atlantic currents making it less suitable for swimming. In the early 1970s, to create a more appealing beach, a breakwater was constructed to protect against strong waves, and approximately 270,000 tons of white sand were imported from the Sahara Desert to cover the beach.

Centro Historico de San Cristobal de la Laguna
San Cristóbal de La Laguna is a historical city in the northern part of Tenerife. It is the old colonial capital of Tenerife and the third-most populous city of the archipelago and the second-most populous city of the island after Santa Cruz de Tenerife. La Laguna’s well preserved Old Town is one of Tenerife’s two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the other one being Teide National Park. We will have an hour to wander La Laguna Old Town’s cobbled streets, admiring its grand mansions which are home to chic cafes, museums, art galleries and boutiques which are great for Canarian products shopping. After an hour of light walk we will drive up Anaga Rural Park.

Parque Rural de Anaga
Welcome to Anaga Rural Park! This land of mountains covered with laurel trees and charming hamlets is Unesco World Heritage Site. A trip to the Anaga laurel forest should include a visit to Cruz del Carmen, located in the Anaga Forest, one of the most popular natural spaces on the archipelago, which serves as the lungs of the islands and refuge for endemic flora and fauna. From the Cruz del Carmen viewpoint, you can see the neighbourhood of La Vega Lagunera and the city of La Laguna, with Mount Teide as a backdrop. Several hiking routes start from here, such as the Trail of the Senses, which follows the paths joining Anaga and La Laguna. We will have a short walk on this path in the forest and take some great pictures. There is a restaurant, a coffee bar and a visitor’s centre nearby, which provides information on Anaga and serves as a cultural centre to promote its natural values.

Playa de Los Roques de Fasnia
Los Roques is a hidden gem that offers a tranquil escape from the island's more crowded tourist areas. This picturesque village is renowned for its distinctive cave houses, structures ingeniously built into the rock formations, reflecting traditional architectural practices adapted to the volcanic landscape. These unique dwellings provide a glimpse into the island's cultural heritage and the resourcefulness of its inhabitants. Adjacent to the village lies a small yet captivating black sand beach, a characteristic feature of Tenerife's volcanic origins. The beach, is framed by impressive rock formations on either side, creating a secluded and serene environment. The dark sands contrast beautifully with the clear Atlantic waters, offering visitors a peaceful spot to relax and soak in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Village of Abades
In 1943, during a time when leprosy was a significant health concern in Tenerife, a leprosy village was constructed on the hill above what is now Abades. This village included a hospital, crematorium, numerous bungalows, an administration building overlooking the sea, and a large concrete church in Francoist style, featuring a prominent cross visible from the nearby motorway. However, as medical advancements led to the near-eradication of leprosy in the Canary Islands, the village was never fully completed. The site later served as a military training facility before being sold to a private owner in 2002. Today, the church remains in good condition, standing as a historical landmark. Today, Abades consists of approximately 760 small white bungalows, many of which are owned by residents . Abades offers a blend of historical intrigue and modern amenities, making it a unique destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat on Tenerife's southeast coast

A traditional lunch in the Canary Islands o might begin with papas arrugadas, small potatoes boiled in salted water until their skins wrinkle, served with two types of mojo sauces: mojo verde and mojo rojo. An excellent starter is grilled goat cheese, a local delicacy where slices of goat cheese are cooked on a griddle until slightly melted and golden brown. For the main course, carne de cabra guisada is a traditional dish featuring goat meat slowly cooked with spices, vegetables, and a touch of local wine, resulting in tender and flavorful meat. Alternatively, a mixed grill offers a variety of meats, including pork, chicken, and rabbit. Seafood enthusiasts will appreciate the abundance of fresh local fish and seafood available in the Canary Islands. To accompany these dishes a great Canarian wine is recommended!

Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Candelaria
Candelaria is an important pilgrim site and many of its visitors come to the Basilica to the shrine of the Black Madonna, who is the patron saint of the Canary Islands. On the square in front of the Basilica on the edge of the sea, the Plaza de Patrona de Canarias, there are 9 colossal statues of Guanche (Aboriginal) chiefs along the sea wall. The old town of Candelaria is pleasant and the main square has plenty of bars and nice shops. You can find some lovely wooden balconies typicals of Canarian architecture. There is also a nice promenade along the sea-front and a small harbour. You can visit the Cave Chapel of San Blas, the Basilica (if is open), have a coffee or a snack. Now is time to to drive back home happy with our incredible private tour on Tenerife!
