Galleria dell'Accademia
Come and discover Michelangelo's David, one of the most famous Florentine symbols, a sculpture made of marble (520 cm high including the 108 cm base) by Michelangelo Buonarroti between 1501 and early 1504, considered a masterpiece of world sculpture, is one of the emblems of the Renaissance as well as a symbol of Florence and Italy abroad. The play portrays the biblical hero as he prepares to face Goliath, the David is always considered the ideal of male beauty in art. The Gallery is one of the places with the highest number of sculptures by Michelangelo, you can also admire the museum of musical instruments, the largest collection of paintings with a gold background and the Prison Room with sculptures designed for Pope Julius II. You will enter from the priority entrance to the museum and enjoy a journey into the life of Michelangelo Buonarroti’s genius, to discover Renaissance sculpture while appreciating his works and sculptures.
