Your Itinerary

Champagne Alfred Gratien

Your guide, Angélique, will drive you in a comfortable van to the Alfred Gratien Champagne House or another depending on availability located in Epernay and Reims where a guide will welcome you to the depths of its cellars which house the wonderful beverage. You will discover the history of the founding fathers of Champagne as well as the transmission made to the brilliant cellar masters of today. The visit will continue with 2 commented tastings.

Abbaye Saint-Pierre d'Hautvillers

Along the way we will head towards the charming village of Hautvillers, the cradle of Champagne. Located on a hillside, it offers a breathtaking view of the Montagne de Reims, the Marne Valley and the Côte des Blancs! Leaning against the nearby forest, nestles a Benedictine Abbey whose intendant-cellarer in 1668 was called Dom Pérignon! Born in 1639 in St Menehould in the Marne, he is one of the monks who participated in improving the quality of wine in our region. His discovery of the blending of different grape varieties and different vintages ensured his posterity. Behind the enclosed garden of the Abbey, the view is breathtaking over the "grand cru" and "premier cru" vineyards of the Champagne Appellation. The ideal place to discover the whole cycle of the vine as well as the hard "handmade" work of the Champagne winegrower. Isn't it "Good wines without good grapes"

Chez Max

It will be time for the lunch break in a traditional French cuisine restaurant 3chez Max or elsewhere depending on availability, two menus will be offered to you as well as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free dishes etc.... All accompanied by a flute of Champagne as well as a glass of red wine and coffee.

After lunch, a small digestive walk will be welcome (according to the weather)! Head for the famous Avenue de Champagne in Epernay, historic heart of the divine beverage. Here were born the Great Houses! Estates such as Moët et Chandon, Perrier-Jouët or Pol Roger, De Venoge ... have competed in architectural audacity and magnificence to give Champagne its letters of nobility. They are in tune with the reputation of the wine that ages in their cellars. With a park of 110 km of cellars and no less than 200 million bottles under the cobblestones, this Avenue is considered the richest in the world!

Reims Central Train Station

Will ring the return time at the same place as the pick-up. Or Gare center in Reims. Either the tourist office in Epernay, 7 avenue de Champagne 5:30/6:00 p.m.

Angelique our guide did a fantastic job showing us the Champagne region and telling us about the area. We went to two tastings and learned a lot about champagne making which was quite interesting. The lunch was fabulous in Epernay at Chez Max. The owner “ Frank” delighted us with his culinary skills and was incredibly welcoming upon our arrival. We would highly recommend a tour with Angelique who was born and raised in the region and has a tremendous amount of knowledge she can share with her guests.

The day included a fabulous authentic French lunch and the 2 champagne houses visited provided a great tour of how champagne is being made. Angelique’s knowledge about the vineyards and picturesque villages along the way, made it a truly memorable day. Will highly recommend this tour !

Wow, Wow, just Amazing! Probably the best tour I have ever done, do yourself a favour and book this tour in advance. Great insight to the Champagne production and drinking, maybe request a few more tastings 👏

My husband and I were the only two people on the tour and we were fortunate to have Angelique as our guide. We did a tour of Reims before heading to Epernay. The first champagne house we visited was Alfred Gratien. On this tour we learned about the extensive process of champagne making and it gave us more appreciation of the bubbly and the tasting was splendid. After the first tasting we stopped at Moet and Chandon for a visit then walked on Ave de Champagne and then had lunch at Chez Max where we were warmly welcomed and served a delicious meal accompanied by champagne and wine. Our next stop was a family run champagne house and we had 3 tastings. We got to see a big and small champagne houses. This tour was certainly the highlight of our birthday trip and having someone as Angelique who grew up in Epernay and is passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and warm, made our trip more memorable. I highly recommend.

We went with Angelique for a day tour in her nice air conditioned van; she was funny, engaging and very knowledgeable on all things bubbly. Her local knowledge saw us avoid the masses and enjoy some real family producers of whom we relieved of some bottles ! The choice of the lunch venue was authentic and excellent with a good choice of dishes. She calls herself ABC but it’s a straight A from us. Thanks Angelique, best wishes Richard n Cathi.

Angélique will take all of the stress out of your trip and make it the perfect day. The tour is everything you could ask for and more—beautiful sights, a wealth of information, and delicious champagne. Angélique is a delightful conversationalist with authentic connections throughout the region; she feels like a local friend rather than a traditional “tour guide”. 10/10 recommendation!
