Tour guide coaxed an alligator and reached into water to pet him. Tour guide at plantation very knowledgeable and opened our eyes of how brutal slavery was.

Excellent tour. Very informative about plantation life and Louisiana becoming a state. The swamp tour was beautiful. Our guide was fantastic!

Captain Ernie was a wealth of knowledge about alligators and the swamp land. I liked his candid demeanor and sense of humor. Great tour… we recommend it!!

Dorit123

We did the Destrehan plantation and swamp tour package (6 hours long) The plantation tour was interesting and worthwhile although the tour guide had minimal knowledge. She had a script memorized and just went through her script. Did not know much beyond that when asked a question. The swamp tour was great! We had a great guide named Ernie and he made the experience very enjoyable. I guess the tour guide you get is the luck of the draw... overall a very good combination of sights (without spending all day touring!)

Both parts of the tour were fantastic! The plantation tour guide was very articulate and extremely well informed about the multi-generational early history of the home, as well as its more recent history. Our swamp boat tour guide provided everything one could ask for: safety, information about the ecosystem there, EXTREMELY funny, and man o man did we see alligators!

Both parts of the tour was great. Very educational and fun If you want food from the plantation you will be better from the cafe due to time The airboat was fun and the guide does his best to find wild gators for you to see. Very knowledgeable as he was born and raised in the area. If it is the younger guide then get him to show you the videos he has of feeding the gators and swimming with them. Recommend sunglasses on the airboat when travelling as you are in an open boat so to block the air rushing to your face.

We had a wonderful tour guide! So knowledgeable about the time period and plantation! She was truly amazing!

Excellent combination for a day trip just outside. Destrehan plantation had a very interesting history well explained by the guide. Much more than a basic fancy house tour, it emphasized the work of the enslaved and discussion of the 1811 German Coast Uprising. The swamp tour was a pleasant ride into the channels with cypress knees, palmettos, and spanish moss. Despite it being January, we saw a sunning alligator. Tour guide also passed around "Justin Case," a baby alligator he brought, not expecting we'd see one in its natural habitat.

Guide was informative about the families and how the house was built. It was a rainy day but the people who work there know their history. Kiddos to the worker in the gift shop who could answer my question about the land ownership after the Civil war!

Captain Matt was such a fabulous tour guide! The respect he showed for the wild life and the environment and his knowledge was superb. He was entertaining as well. The plantation tour was canceled due to attendance but we received a full refund since we had booked the combo.
