Our whole experience was most memorable; from our first stop at a little church with 110 steps up, sampling water at Furnas, Poca da Dona Beija thermal baths, waiting for the famous stew to come out of the ground and eat it at Bannhos Ferricos restaurant, Povoacao, wonderful view stops, the lighthouse, Nordeste, water fall, tea plantation & a quick stop at the supermarket for a few beverages. Samuel was an absolute amazing tour guide! Thank you so much, you entertained us, gave us so much information on the Azores and Portugal! We will be sure to recommend you to our friends.

We had a wonderful time on our tour with Sam. He was very knowledgeable, kind and easy to talk to. We told him several places we wanted to go and he made sure to time it right. We also expressed physical limitations and he catered the trip to our needs without sacrificing any of the experience. We loved Sao Miguel and will definitely recommend Green Corner to our friends on their visits!

The tour with Samuel was the absolute highlight of our weekly stay on the island. While it may seem the northern part of Sao Miguel is less popular, we witnessed a sheer volume of beauty and were quite frankly overwhelmed with all the views, waterfalls and flora. The day was also rich in context: Samuel told us everything there is to know about the history, culture, economy, geography, geology, cuisine, traditions and people of Azores. Cannot recommend enough to spend the day with this knowledgeable guide and enjoying some of the most beautiful corners of our planet.

The views were amazing, but Sam (owner and guide) was even better: friendly, responsive, unhurried, and endlessly informative. I would give the same rating to the two other tours I took with Sam this week.

Samuel was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his home, Sao Miguel. We were lucky to have a private full day excursion with him. He customized the tour to fit our interests and his timing for specific activities was spot on. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend scheduling your next adventure with Green Corner Tours.

I’m so glad that we had Samuel to share his beautiful island with us. We had two full day tours with him and a half day city tour of Ponta Delgada. His depth of knowledge of the island’s geological, cultural, and political history is matched by his friendliness. Samuel speaks English fluently and converses (and jokes) with ease. He took us to all the major sites and viewpoints, giving us plenty of time to appreciate them (and taking great photos for us too). He also conducted tours of a pineapple plantation, porcelain factory, and tea farm. He brought us to two different liquor-making places (with free tastings!). Most impressive to me was our experience of Corzido das Furnas, a meat and vegetable stew cooked by the volcano. Samuel explained the whole process to us and we watched as the cooking pot containing our lunch was unburied and brought out of the hole in the ground, then we all went to the restaurant and ate it!

From the minute Samuel picked me up, i knew it was going to be a great day. Small size group. Furnas was incredible, watching our lunch cooking in the ground was something i have never experienced. You will not regret this trip

Sam was a great guide and host for our day to Furnas and Nordeste. My friend and I had a wonderful time. We did hikes each day during our trip to Sao Miguel except for the van excursion with Green Corner, and it was the perfect break from hiking 9 miles each day. We saw a bunch of things, had an amazing lunch, saw the beautiful Terra Nostra garden, got to pop in the hot springs, saw the fumaroles and tasted the different spring waters (and some local liqueurs), saw a bunch of beautiful overlooks, checked out some waterfalls, and got to wrap up by getting to visit to the Gorreana Tea factory where Sam walked us through the process right before they were closing. It was great! Also, he took us to see the Our Lady of Peace church up on the hill above Vila Franca which the others on our tour hadn't seen. I love to see a bunch of things, so I had a great time. I hope Sam has a wonderful first wedding anniversary, as he told us that was coming up. Cheers!
