Our off-road motorcycle adventure in Madeira with Mountain Gadgets was an adrenaline-fueled journey led by the skilled guide, Joao of Enduro Madeira. Our diverse group of riders, including Andy Mason on a 350cc Fourstroke Husqvarna, Ken Mansfield on a 300cc two-stroke Husqvarna, Tony Mcaleer on a 350 4-stroke, John Hayden on a 300 2-stroke, and Julian on a 300 2-stroke, tackled extremely rutted hills and challenging tracks, pushing heart rates to 174 bpm. The three days of riding encompassed a mix of terrains, from demanding hill climbs to exhilarating descents, and included navigating the tricky Madeira Ice. The grand finale—a perilous ravine crossing straddling the Aqua velum—added a thrilling climax to an unforgettable off-road experience in the stunning landscapes of Madeira.

Just had a day out with Joao from Mountain Gadget Brilliant from start to finish its was some 5years since being off road but Joao make everything so relaxed and easy great bikes and some fantastic routes. If your in Madeira and want a day or two to remember then this is simply the best.and a big thanks to the other two guys I met Lucas And Thomas who helped when I got stuck.

Great guide, and scenic tour. I reccomend this adventure to anyone interested in action sports. I am a mtb guy, but enjoyed these trails on a motorbike. Really varied riding!

First let’s talk about Jauo, our guide. He’s very calm, relaxed, patient, knowledgeable, highly skilled and experienced at his craft. All the stuff you would hope from your tour guide. He wasn’t just a guide that we followed around but a very talented and gifted tutor. I’ve a had a couple of bikes but not ridden for a few years and was well out of form but we were carefully assessed by Jauo and taken through a series of excercises which set the tone for what our days riding would consist of (the difficulty level) which was always challenging, never easy, slighty scary but not too intimidating. A good balance. The bikes. Husky 300 cc two strokes were/are perfect enduro. Quite light and manageable with enough power when u need it. I’m glad we weren’t on his older models, the CR 450four strokes. Me and my bro have been stuck on hill climbs on those bikes before in the UK and near died of exhaustion. So the bikes are fit for purpose, well maintained and we loved them. The terrain was varied, a lot of dry soft dirt but also compacted dirt, rocky tracks, animal tracks , you name it we had a bit of everything. The tour consisted of lots of stopping and starting which was great coz if gave us a minute to rest and each time we stopped we were given tips and tuition and what to expect around the next corner regarding what line to take and of any impending obstacles, all invaluable stuff and I was so glad Jauo really took the time to make sure always we were having fun but also keeping it challenging and always learning. To conclude, we highly recommend mountain gadget for all the afore mentioned reasons. This day out far exceeded my expectations and actually made my holiday. Not just the best day this week but one of my best days ever. I’ll never forget this day out. Oh and one other thing. Jauo had no qualms about giving us an extra couple of hours that weren’t paid for strictly speaking. We paid for half a day but we were out all day. Simply because it’s not about the money for him. His priority is you have fun learning and learn having fun. Top geezer. See you next year Jauo.

So glad I did this! On holiday with my family and I thought I deserved a me day. As a keen motor biker I came across Joao and his company prior to going to Madeira and booked up for a 6 hour day trip exploring Madeira the alternative way on a Husqvarna off road motorbike! Great equipment, great local knowledge, different skill levels to suite all from beginner to expert. Joao even took me to a little rustic restaurant up in the hills! Superb day and what a great experience. Thanks Joao! Very highly recommended!

I thoroughly enjoyed an enduro tour with Mountain Gadget yesterday (19.04.2022) the areas we went were fantastic, great riding for beginner to experts (something for everyone), fantastic scenery and we stopped off at a lovely rustic restaurant for lunch. Amazing day, I came back for the second time to do a 1 day tour. Jota took us to incredible places, breathtaking views. Always very attentive and giving the best tips to enjoy the ride with the greatest possible adrenaline behind the wheel of the husqvarna 300. I highly recommend it, it's a unique experience! Jota its the best!!! i will be back very soon
