London

Accredited London Private Driver Guide (who is also a Downton Abbey fanatic) will provide you with a panoramic sightseeing trip with a running commentary – punctuated by stops for stand up presentations at London’s Downton Abbey movie site locations. Downton Abbey fans will know that the early series of the drama was mostly set in Yorkshire, with a Christmas Special set in Scotland – but in later series London became a real star of the show! London really started to hog the limelight once Lady Edith’s risqué romance with that old smooth-talking magazine editor Michael Gregson got going. Inevitably we shall also get to view and stop at MANY of London’s iconic landmarks plus a few secret ones (including Lord Grantham’s London stately home): Buckingham Palace + Houses of Parliament + Big Ben + Palace of Westminster + Parliament Square + St James’s Palace + Lancaster House + Bridgewater House + St. James’s Square + Spencer House + Green Park + The Mall + Admiralty Arch + Belgrave Square + Downing Street + Caxton Hall + Criterion Restaurant + Ritz Hotel + Saville Club + Trafalgar Square + Piccadilly Circus + Marble Arch + Park Lane + Hyde Park + Royal Albert Hall + Kensington Palace + Astor House + Temple Place + Lincoln’s Inn Fields + Hoxton Hall + Chepstow Villas + St. Pancras Station. We shall also walk in the footprints of those stars of the series (many of whom hail from the London area): Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham) is from Blackheath Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary Crawley) from Romford) Maggie Smith (Violet Crawley, the Dowager) from Ilford Dan Stevens (Mathew Crawley) from Croydon (which is not far from Crawley!) Lilly James (Lady Rose) from Esher Jessica Brown-Findlay (Lady Sybil Crawley) from Cookham Samantha Bond (Lady Rosamond Painswick nee Crawley) David Robb (Dr. Clarkson) the Scotsman, also hails from London, although he grew up in Edinburgh. Final set-down point for this tour can be any preferred Central London location of choice – so let us know if you would like our Concierge Team to make an Afternoon Tea reservation for you! Please contact us separately should you be interested in a bespoke ‘Downton Abbey in the English Countryside’ experience – which includes Highclere Castle + Bampton Village + Enchanted Manor House at Basildon Park (scene of Lady Rose’s wedding).
