Your Itinerary

Love, Tito's

Your tour meets and departs from Love, Tito's on historic Lavaca St., downtown Austin. This quaint retail shop is the only retail outlet for Austin's one and only Tito's Vodka! Now a world wide sensation, Tito's started right here in the Austin area. The helpful and friendly employees at Love, Tito's are happy to share both the success and deep roots of Tito's story. Opening at 11:00am, this is the perfect spot to start our Austin adventure! Sorry, no free Tito's samples :)

Willie Nelson Statue

Standing proudly in front of the Moody Theater, Willie's statue is an iconic representation of why Austin is known as the "Live Music Capital of America". In addition to the statue, there is a cast bronze map at this intersection which shows detail of "old Austin" and the surrounding bodies of water. A perfect opportunity to give our tour the right historical context!

The Moody Theater

Located just behind the Willie statue is the world famous Moody Theater. Home of the live broadcast for the PBS program "Austin City Limits", this music theater is a "must see" on your private Austin walking adventure!

Lady Bird Lake Hike-and-Bike Trail

Your private Austin walk takes you along a scenic section of the Lady Bird Lake hiking trail. Just a short beautiful stroll from the Congress Ave. bridge, (aka Bat Bridge), to the historic Rainey St. District. Along your walk, your guide will inform you on everything from details of the famous Austin bats to the history of the Austin barges and ferries before the age of iron bridges. This is a wonderful shaded addition to your tour with spectacular views of the city skyline and, of course, Lady Bird Lake. :-)

Rainey Street Historic District

The Rainey Street District is one of Austin's best kept secrets! It is an eclectic combination of soaring new condominiums and charming cottages and bungalows. These quaint little dwellings used to be private homes in Austin but now serve as some of the finest, and certainly most fun, restaurants and breweries in the city! While in the Rainey District you will be able to grab a drink or some great food truck eats at the "Stay Put Brewery". This is an award winning brewery with nearby access to some of the finest truck grub in the city!

O. Henry Home & Museum

The home of great American author, William Sydney Porter, aka O' Henry, is located near the heart of downtown and is a brief stop to acknowledge O' Henry's story and his life here in Austin back in the 1880s.

Joseph and Susanna Dickinson Hannig Museum

Next to the O' Henry home sits the former home of our local hero, Susanna Dickinson, the lone survivor of the Alamo (1836). At this spot, we recount the bravery of Susanna who not only survived the Alamo, but managed to save her daughter Angelina as well!

6th Street

On your walking adventure of downtown Austin, you will experience two blocks of the world famous "Dirty 6th Street"! Nearly all of the storefronts on east 6th date to the 1870s and 1880s. Our informed guides will be sure point out the coolest spots for food and, of course, live music!!

The Driskill

The Driskill is a magnificent example of the gilded age in Austin. This beautiful and historic hotel has been standing proudly at the edge of East 6th since its completion in 1886. After a tour of the hotel lobby, guests who so choose are welcome to purchase a drink at the Driskill bar and grill. A perfect way to end your private walk of the Capital city!
