I recently had the opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream of exploring historic WWII landmarks in Europe. I did a lot of research for this trip, as I wanted the best experience possible for my time and money. After watching several Youtube vidoes from The Gettysburg Museum of History account, I noticed they used Tom Lewis as their guide in the Berchtesgaden area. I reached out to Tom, and he was incredibly professional. As an accredited guide, Tom knew every spot I asked to see, plus a lot of sites I didn’t know existed, and was happy to help me get the most of my day and a half in the area. Tom picked me up both days at my hotel in his sparkling clean vehicle. Because he’d asked in previous emails about my specific interests, Tom filled my tour with not only the places I requested, but also many stops I didn’t know existed. What a wonderful tour! Tom is so knowledgeable and passionate about this time in history, and I learned that he also guides the Band of Brothers tour. I was also fortunate enough to spend a few hours with Tom and his lovely wife, Amy, who is also a guide. I was able to see places that normal tourists don’t see (like the mechanics room at the Eagle’s Nest). We also had a wonderful lunch overlooking Martin Bormann’s Gutshof, as well as the golf course the allies built while stationed there. Tom has spent many years contacting the last remaining eye witnesses to the area’s history, as well as their family members, and it shows. Our entire tour was filled with poignant stories, anecdotes, and fascinating accounts from the people who lived it, and have shared their histories with Tom and Amy. You simply can’t get that kind of an experience without a guide who’s interests match your own. My day and a half with Tom was by far the highlight of my 2 week trip. Would I suggest you book a tour with Tom? What I would tell you is that by NOT utilizing a professional to make the most of your travel time in Berchtesgaden, you’re going to miss a lot key details, and hidden gems along the way. Tom is worth every penny and then some. Engaging, punctual, courteous, professional, mannerly, and kind. What else could you ask for in a guide? As a solo female traveler, I couldn’t have asked for a more respectful, courteous guide. Book Tom for your next Berchtesgaden WWII adventure. You’ll enjoy your time so much more with a knowledgable guide, make new friends in Tom and Amy, and get the best experience from a qualified professional who has made it his mission to know the lay of the land, and the history. Tom is also fluent in German, which came in handy several times on our tour. Thank you, Tom. It was a pleasure to learn about this beautiful part of the world on your tour - a truly memorable experience on my once-and-a-lifetime trip. Best, Melissa Wickline

Our group recently enjoyed an excellent tour of the Eagles Nest and the surrounding sites of Berchtesgaden with Tom Lewis. Tom was an excellent guide and very knowledgable about the history of the area. Along with the Eagles Nest, Tom took our group to many of the prominent sites in the area. Tom is very knowledgeable about the history of the area and answered all our questions. We would highly recommend Tom for your private tour.

Amazing. A thoroughly enjoyable, and most importantly, very informative experience. Tom offered me a fully custom tour, listening carefully to my specific requirements as well as providing informed input himself to allow me to see and hear exactly what I needed to fill the gaps in my knowledge. Tom's lived experience in the area, his astonishing background in connecting with and interviewing individuals who were present at the historical events associated with the area, his photographic memory and concise descriptions of places, events, names... just took my breath away at times. I was almost able to place myself back in time to experience some of those events for myself. It's clear that WW2 history is Tom's passion, that educating others about it is a calling for him, I benefited massively from this, I'd do it again, a brilliant way to spend a day and learn so much.
