Your Itinerary

Castelo de S. Jorge

From outside the castle entrance, we discover the history and importance of St. George's Castle to Lisbon. We learn about the three city walls, hear legendary stories, and explore two of the city gates.

Santo António

Our first food stop is Pastelaria Santo António, a "Best of Lisbon' bakery where we enjoy a traditional local treat.

Miradouro de Santa Luzia

After a pretty walk on Rua das Damas (Ladies Street), we visit one of the most photographed places in Lisbon. This observation area is a must-see for first-time visitors to Lisbon and will have all your friends green with jealousy.

Miradouro das Portas do Sol

Our next observation point is a tour favorite and one of the most photographed places in Europe. You’ll want your camera ready to capture unbeatable views of Alfama and Lisbon.

Museu de Lisboa - Teatro Romano

After a short walk, we explore a working archological dig that was the cultural center of Oliasipo (Lisbon's Roman name). After the fall of the Roman empire, this theatre was used for fish storage and eventually forgotten. It was discovered only 60 years ago.

Lisbon Cathedral

(Pass by)

Built in 1147, the Lisbon Cathedral is the oldest church in Lisbon and still in use today. Becuase of time constraints, we are unable to take the Cathedral tour, but learn plenty about its history.

Church of St. Anthony

Known as the Matchmaker Saint and the Saint of the Recovery of Lost Items, Saint Anthony is the popular Patron Saint of Portugal. The Church of Saint Anthony is a must-see for all Catholics. Includes the birthplace of Saint Anthony, the Saint Anthony cript, and a museum. After viewing the church, we head to Baixa and the downtown area for the rest of our walking tour.

Rua dos Correeiros Archaeological Nucleus

The NARC Archeological dig, uncovered only 30 years ago, is a significant archeological find for Lisbon's past and its occupation through the ages. Classified as a National Monument in 2015, this one-hour tour of the Roman Garum processing area, a fermented fish sauce took weeks to make, is a fascinating tour of the importance of Oliasipo to the Roman Empire. NOTE: Tour reservations are required and may not be available at the time of our tour. Please book your tour well in advance to insure participation with this 1 hour tour.

Admission Included

Praca do Comercio (Terreiro do Paco)

Our final landmark is the beating heart of Lisbon, Commerical Plaza, aka the Terreiro do Paco. For hundreds of years, this is where ships arrived from India, China and other parts of Asia, bringing exotic treasures and spices for Europeans. Still a popular meeting spot for locals and travelers, this is one of the biggest plazas in Europe. We learn about the Great Earthquake, the Reconstruction, and who the man is on the horse. A perfect ending point to continue your Lisbon holiday.
