Pere-Lachaise Cemetery

The Chairfather tours of Père Lachaise are an immersive experience encompassing theatrical representations and citations, music clips, sound effects, gags and other surprises. Hearing the tales of 50 personalities told in this entertaining way, you'll agree the passed have never been more alive!  On Tour 1, we will cover one third of the 44 hectares of this immense park. We will visit the final resting places of luminaries Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, Alice B Toklas, Ettore Bugatti, Amadeo Modigliani, Edith Piaf, Henri Salvador, Beaumarchais, Anna de Noailles, the Carton family, Quintin Craufurd, Victor Noir, Sarah Bernhardt, Yves Montand, Simone Signoret, Isadora Duncan, Stéphane Grappelli and a Dragon. In life, many of our hosts were connected to each other in surprising ways. This first tour explores political intrigue, forbidden love, and, of course, sex.  Tour 2 will see Camille Corot, Jean de La Fontaine, Molière, Antoine Parmentier, Joseph Léopold Sigisbert Hugo, Jean Anthelme Brillat de Savarin, the Tissandier family, Elizaveta Démidoff-Strogonoff, Georges Rodenbach, Ferdinand de Lesseps, Jim Morrison, Héloïse and Abélard, Camille Pissarro, Michel Petrucciani, Frédéric Chopin, Claude Chabrol, Marcel Marceau, and Théodore Géricault. We will explore separation: diverging from tradition, rifts in the relationships of fathers and sons, slicing through the sky, cutting through continents, lovers forcibly pulled apart, breakthrough bold musical compositions and silence as a means of communication.  The main theme of Tour 3 is builders, meeting four men who made Paris what it is today. We will pay respects to Jacques-Louis David, Félix Faure, Georges Eugène Haussmann, Gioachino Rossini, Louis Visconti, Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, Jean-Charles Adolphe Alphand, Georges Seurat, Georges Méliès, Joseph Croce-Spinelli and Théodore Sivel, Georges Bizet, Gustave Caillebotte, Honoré de Balzac, Eugène Delacroix, Fulgence Bienvenüe, Marcel Proust, Allan Kardec and some guy called Félix de Beaujour.  No other audio tour visits as many sites inside Père Lachaise. Your guide is a local author who used to work a couple blocks from the cemetery and would come for lunch all the time. Often he would have to return three times to try to find one site without success. The maps and the apps simply weren't accurate enough. So, he decided to make these tours to get people on track. At least half of the places we will visit you would not be able to find without a guide. The Chairfather tours will bring you in an enjoyable manner to precisely the sites most tourists are looking for.  This is a GPS-triggered audio tour from VoiceMap, which has the advantage of allowing your eyes free reign to look around you and admire the sites. You can put your phone in your pocket, look up, and let your imagination wander.

The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
