THE highlight of our 14 day trip to Italy! Franca and her family were so welcoming and it was an amazing opportunity to learn about the traditions of the area. Franca is one-of-a-kind and made the day truly special. We loved the opportunity to learn how to make bread and enjoyed Franca's stories and zest for life. The visit to the caves at Zungri was very interesting and offered a glimpse of how people in the area lived in the past. I cannot even describe how amazing the lunch was - Anna outdid herself with the cooking. We are still talking about how great the food was - especially the beans and potatoes and peppers! I need to find the recipe! Be prepared for a great day - as well as some singing and dancing ;) A definite must-do on your next trip to Calabria!

It is impossible to give this experience anything less than 5 stars! A true Calabrian experience in the heart of Calabria, Zungri. From the moment you step into Franca's family farm and you're greeted by her warm smile, you know you're in for a beautiful day. We entered as strangers and my parents and I left feeling like family. Franca and her family are the most warm and welcoming people with the energy of a true Calabrian. This is a must for a true Italian experience. The bread making, tour of Zungri and all the food we tried was first class! I cannot recommend this experience enough. So much love to Franca and her beautiful family! We wish you all the very best and cannot thank you enough for an unforgettable day ❤️ you made our trip to Calabria one to remember!

Being here gave me a better understanding of the true Italian life. It’s rustic, humble, welcoming, and authentic. The people here remind me of my family back in Mexico. I recommend this place for anyone that’s interested in learning about how Italians live outside of the touristy areas and about the true home-cooked meals are like. It’s close to Tropea, so the city life is not far.

What to expect
An exciting and fun interpretation of the typical peasant day dedicated to the rural cult of homemade bread as it was once done. From the methodical preparation of the dough, to the instant in which water, flour and yeast, expertly prepared, will become the long-awaited and fragrant shapes, "a sfurnata" (baked out of the oven) to be kept "'nta madhja" (maida). All the intermediate stages of bread making will be represented and people who wish to participate will be entertained and involved in all respects. The program has the purpose of pleasant reconstruction of rural traditions and useful training, as well as education to natural and peasant life. The day culminates with the tasting of the “zero kilometer” “sapori alla contadina” banquet; a participation in the typical cuisine with tasty native dishes, set up in an original location, "a Raìsina". For those who wish, an excursion will be organized to the rock settlement of the Zungri Caves with a visit to the Museum of Rural and Peasant Civilization, an exhibition of sculptures and paintings created by Maestro Zappino and a visit to the portals, artists' paintings in the small village historic...
