The interior features a single nave. The barrel vault is covered with magnificent frescoes that include sacred and profane decorative elements. The side walls are lined with beautiful tile panels, attributed to the famous ceramist Gabriel del Barco. These panels represent biblical scenes. (No regular visiting hours)

Ruinas Fingidas

Located within a public park there is no information about these ruins on site. Apparently they are a folly, created with items saved from the demolition of the monasteries at the turn of the 20th century. Free to access and walk around they are well worth a few minutes, especially as the whole area is populated by peacocks.

Palacio de Dom Manuel

(Pass by)

Solid palace and former convent located in a well-kept park with historical artefacts.

Beautiful place to visit and worth the hour and a half drive. See the countryside and relax on the drive because it’s a great little town to walk around in. Fabulous winery stop and great views from the top. We had absolutely the best knowledgeable guides that were so fun we asked them to join us for lunch. They made the trip!

Too much time spent on road to and from evora. Not much to see. Winery was also not worth our money.

João led a fantastic tour for us to evora. He asked if we would be interested in tialing a slightly alternative plan which looped in the Mercado do livramento (Fresh market) and to see where cork is processed. This was a great treat and we really enjoyed these bonus places. João was charismatic and enjoyable the whole day and his passion for doing tours was evident. (Just check out the picture of him attached)
