Dino, was a fantastic guide and driver. We had so much fun and information about the people and island life. We look forward to our next visit to this beautiful island and will definitely book more adventures with him.

Great guide. He gave us interesting insights about the places we visited and along the route. Some locations were very touristy. He recommended a good restaurant for lunch. The stops were well timed. We were lucky, there were only two of us. The Mercedes people carrier was excellent.

Dinarte is an excellent and thoughtful host. Made us feel so comfortable. Thank you for a memorable day.

This was a great day out and Dino is an excellent and charming guide. As it was a Monday, fewer tourists were around and we had the tour to ourselves. Spectacular scenery and a fabulous lunch at a restaurant recommended by Dino

I really didn't want to write this review, but felt I had to... After doing the west tour of the island with Dino, who had been very interactive and informative with our small group, we decided to book the east tour with him. We were very much looking forward to the experience. Upon arrival, we realised we were the only ones on the tour: Dino had explained that he had the option to put us on coach with another company (doing the same tour that day), but had decided to give us a more exclusive private tour with him. We were very grateful for this with positive anticipation for the day ahead. Upon approaching the Pico do Areiro viewpoint things began to take a turn. The tour drop off area (designated for coaches and minibuses) was beginning to fill up with private vehicles, meaning limited space for Dino’s minivan. He began insulting and complaining at tourists for parking in the wrong area and mentioned that he had previously "threatened someone to smash in their face" for showing him the middle finger. He told us that when the police had arrived, he mentioned to them that the tourist had tried to attack him, so had no choice but to defend himself. He told us that the police always take the side of the Madeiran citizens over tourists. As you would expect, this changed the positive atmosphere, in which the tour had started on. He found a space and dropped us of for around 30 minutes to allow us to view the summit and visit the cafe/visitor centre. As we got back into the minivan, the traffic going down and up towards the summit had increased drastically. Meaning that our drive down would be delayed. As we made our way down from the summit car park, we were blocked by a small car driven by an elderly couple (presumably tourists) who had tried to find a space amongst the line of parked cars on their way up. Without hesitation, Dino began swearing (in Portuguese) at them to reverse back down the hill. The couple were clearly intimidated by Dino’s mannerism and resorted to reversing back down the hill. Meanwhile my partner and I sat awkwardly in silence. As we passed them Dean gestured aggressively at the couple, who had allowed him to pass. Following this, he started ranting about how tourists are ruining the island because they aren't parking in the correct areas. As tourists, ourselves, we were left feeling slightly uncomfortable knowing that our driver could potentially be violent. He told us how he would love to slash the tyres of the private cars. During lunch we stopped at a really great restaurant that had amazing food. Here Dino wasn’t happy with the waitress that didn’t say hi to him. He told us “karma will get her she’ll not be working in the restaurant in the next couple weeks”. We were so confused to why such harsh words over something so small? During the rest of the tour, he became very condescending and impatient with us both. At the rum factory, my girlfriend had asked if the rum was stored in a similar way to the wine and he replied with: "Listen to what I’m telling you!”. She felt really uncomfortable after this and I could tell she was having a really hard time with him. I felt that he had crossed the line at this point. At the end of the tour, he tried to apologise to my girlfriend. He had asked for face-to-face feedback, so my girlfirend addressed him about his demanor and his violent attitude towards tourists and other drivers. He replied saying that his poor attitude was between "him" and the "other tourists" and had nothing to do with us. She also confronted him being condescending but he completely denied this. He was like "your boyfriend is a witness". Before we could say anything else, he slammed the passenger door saying "thank you very much" and drove off. We were both left feeling deflated and slightly shocked from what we had witnessed. Given his volatile nature, I wouldn't recommend him to anyone else as I would be worried about the passenger's safety, particularly, if they're doing the tour alone.

This trip was easy to arrange and pick up was prompt. The mini bus was comfortable and spacious. Our guide Dino was friendly, informative and enthusiastic . The East of the Island is dramatic with the mountains, wild sea and Dino is very knowledgeable about the flowers and plants. We fully recommend this tour.

This trip was the highlight of our holiday. We booked and when Dinarte arrived, we found we had the minibus completely to ourselves (we had witnessed several other trips with people jammed in to their rides). Dinarte was excellent, very knowledgeable and funny. He tailored the tour to us offering that if we didn't like something on the itinery that we could skip it and spend longer where we did like. He really couldn't have been more helpful. We enjoyed every part of the day and I would encourage anyone looking for this trip to book this particular one as we found it first class.

A really fascinating tour of half of the island. Great way to see more of Madeira than just your resort. Comfortable transport and a friendly knowledgeable guide. Thanks Dino!
