Unfortunately I would not describe this tour as a ‘food tour’. It started well at the brewery and there was a lot of information and opportunity to taste the Madeiran wine however it went down hill from there. The food we were given was measly e.g. a small packet with a bit of Madeira cake inside. And there was very little information about the food throughout. Some of it was really not pleasant (tough boiled pork on a plate to share with huge amounts of fat). The tour did drag running at 3h30 and I feel for £68.40 was not worth the money.

Our guide Mathew was terrific . We meet in Funchal , The tour was well organized no delays . The tour was a great value for the price . We loved the food, wines and sights. . We suggest this tour to all who like to experience foods and wine.

Roberto our guide was excellent - very knowledgeable and amenable. The tour is a mixture of cultural and architectural history intertwined with Madeira wine, Poncha and food. A worthwhile and informative experience.

Fantastic day with Roberto on the food and wine tour. We started by enjoying Madeira wine at Blandy’s wine lodge and then made our way around town trying chocolate, traditional biscuits, fish, pork, bolodo bread, more wine and local fruits. Roberto was knowledgeable and shared history, art and cultural information. We have been on food tours in numerous countries and this one was at the top of our list. Make sure you go with an empty stomach as there is a lot of food and drink to sample.

Great tour, good well chosen stops and good samples of local food and drink. What would have really improved it would have been an opportunity at the start to quickly introduce each other in the group to build a sense of camaraderie

A tourist trap. The tour was disorganized, the group waited around a lot, the food was terrible, and the guide was offensive at times. The only good part was a visit to Blandy’s winery, which had nice Madeira.

We enjoyed this tour from start to finish - being well-paced, fun and informative. Having had a late arrival the previous day, this was our first introduction to Funchal and found it the perfect introduction to the city. Our guide, Enya (sp?), was engaging and paced the walking and talking well. We were pleasantly surprised at just how many stops for food and/or drink were involved along the way - and were satisfyingly well-fed by the end of it! As well us informing us about the city, its food, drink and culture, Enya gave us some handy tips to boot (such as how best to avoid the crowds!) We'd happily have done the tour all over again!

Roberto was a very experienced, friendly guide. We really recommend him. The tastings were really good and also the stories about the city. You should come with an empty stomach 🙂

This was a really excellent way to start our first visit to Madeira. Our guide, Isabel, was informative, knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. The food & drink we tasted were great and we had a nice small , mixed group to spend a very pleasant few hours with.

This was more than just a food and wine tour. Roberto, our guide, informed us as we walked about the city and island. The stops were all superb with meaningful samples throughout. Drink types were Madeira (Blandy's), wine, beer, soft and Poncho (lethal) all local. The food varied from chocolates to Scabbard Fish (one extreme to another) - again all well presented and tasty. A trip to the market to taste the various local fruits was excellent. Recommended with a fantastic guide - Roberto.
