Maria is a very knowledgeable tour guide, explaining us the history of the local food and the best food in Porto. She was prompt in meeting us and was very patient when we wanted to spend time to buy the products. She gave us recommendations to restaurants and even call to help us make reservation since we don’t speak Portuguese. She was very personal and a delightful person. I would highly recommend.

Maria was a fantastic guide. She is very knowledgeable about Porto, wine and cuisine. Maria went above and beyond to provide a memorable experience for us and we genuinely enjoyed her company. Highly recommend working with her!

Maria is very nice. Her talent and expertise in wine and food is superb. The tour was intimate as it was just 4 of us and Maria. Two couples. We met a wonderful couple from Virginia. The tour itself was spread out, we started at the Almeida Garret monument infront of city hall. Maria took us to have a nice breakfast which included a total of 3 pastries and a local cappuccino, known at "galou". Then we walked over to the door of the market (closed because it was sunday), as were all the shops were we would have looked at the sardines cans which have a historical significance in Portuguese culture and Porto. We basically window shopped and heard about it. Then we moved to another shop which specialized in jams, and sauces that are packaged in tubes. From the outside you would think it is a cosmetic shop. Essentially if u are any person who walked in and asks for tasting you would receive what we received which is a tasting of the different pastes. Which I should add are fantastic. The store is called 6. Great tastes to add to charcuterie boards etc. We tasted a bu ch of those and we were able to buy some. Next we went to a wine shop were we tasted a white wine and we were able to try one can of sardines as a group on bread. The wine was great and the sardines just as good. The last place we went to was another wine shop where we tasted a red and 3 ports. The store keeper explained their wines, super nice guy. The ports were yummy, a white port, a ruby and a tawny. My favorite the tawny. And that was the tour !! To be honest I expected a little more food tastings for 193 euros each !! That's over 420 cdn for the both of us. A little much. Overpriced tour.. you can do it urself and save the money for wine !

To say we walked, talked, & had good food is an understatement. Maria was amazing, so much so that I recommended this tour to other people I met in Portugal who were going to Porto! After asking about my preferences, she introduced me to new foods I enjoyed but wouldn’t have tried (or known to try, even googling) on my own. I especially loved the sardines with bread & vinho verde wine. During our walk, Maria also answered my many questions about Portugal (history, culture, life during covid, etc) and gave me recommendations on what to do next.

The food and wines are divine and Maria is just a pleasure to talk to. Her knowledge of Porto is remarkable. If you come to Porto, book with Maria.

Our Guide Maria was an excellent tour guide. Excellent knowledge of the local area, it’s food culture and just general overall knowledge of the Country. Very friendly and personable

Maria was more than just a guide to the food and wine of Portugal, she was a charming host who engaged with us in the history, art and architecture of Porto. And of course we ate the most delicious food and learned about the wines and ports of the Douro Valley. A wonderful experience.

Be prepared to eat a lot. This tour starts with a typical Porto breakfast consisting of coffee with a pastry (Jesuita). After that we kept walking and reached the farmers market where we had a snack consisting of bacalao (codfish), cavala and sardines with bread, chorizos and hams and wines. We kept walking and had lunch at Santiago where we had the traditional franceschina. Our tour guide Maria is a chef and a wine expert and as so took us to eat and drink the best of Porto. Mari we will be back!

We were short of time as we had a flight to catch, but our guide Maria was flexible about starting earlier-- took us to have delicious pastries and snacks and we ended up with a lovely visit to the market. We had a great time, and made a lovely new friend! Would recommend this tour to anyone.
