Your Itinerary

Miradouro Sao Pedro de Alcantara

Meet your private local foodie host at Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint and start your memorable food journey! Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara is like our local hangout spot with a stunning view. It's this chill terrace where you can soak up the whole vibe of Lisbon. You've got the city laid out below, the river doing its thing, and all those old-school streets and buildings. It's just a solid spot to kick back and take in the local scene.

Chiado

Discover the Chiado area and taste Pasteis de Bacalhau - it can not get more local! Chiado's like the cool older cousin of Lisbon neighborhoods. Packed with trendy shops, historic theaters, and cozy cafés, it's where locals go for a bit of artsy charm and to catch that laid-back city buzz.

Alfama

Enjoy local bites and drinks of your choice following the recommendations of your local foodie host in the Alfama area. Alfama is like the heart and soul of Lisbon, with its narrow winding streets and vibrant, lively atmosphere. It's where you catch the echoes of Fado music in the air, share a beer with neighbors at a hole-in-the-wall bar, and feel the true local rhythm of the city.

Lisbon Cathedral

Find out more about the oldest church in the city that is the seat of the Patriarchate of Lisbon. Built in 1147, the cathedral has survived many earthquakes and has been modified, renovated and restored several times. Finish your foodie journey by tasting the best local pastry - Pasteis de nata!

Antonio took us on the tastiest tour. We enjoyed everything we tried - our favourites were the cod cakes and the sangria. The pace was perfect, and we appreciated Antonio adjusting along the way when we chanced upon other members of our family. Antonio's communication - from booking through tips for other things to do during our time in Lisbon after the tour - was invaluable. Most importantly, we felt like we really connected with people we encountered and the culture here via food, thanks to Antonio.

Antonio was fantastic and it felt like we were old friends by then of the tour! We went to four different local restaurants in various areas of Lisbon. All of the food we tasted was delicious and authentic local cuisine. Definitely more than enough for a full meal.

Our afternoon with Lucia (Lucy) was exceptional. Not only did she give us great information about Portugal, its history, its people and its culture, she introduced us to its delicious food and drink. More important was her friendly, outgoing personality, which by the time we said goodbye made us feel like we had a great new friend. We would not hesitate to recommend Lucia to anyone wanting to experience Lisbon with a “local”

Our food tour in Lisbon with Lucie was interesting from start to finish. Right from the outset, Lucia's punctuality and easy-to-find meeting point set a positive tone for the tour. As we navigated through the charming streets of Lisbon, Lucie's personal connection to the city shone through, offering us a rich tapestry of cultural insights, historical anecdotes, and, of course, food experiences. Despite the initial personality adjustment period, Lucie's knowledge of Lisbon's culture, religion, and cuisine quickly helped us forge a comfortable camaraderie among our cousin group. We found ourselves engrossed in conversations about the city's architectural nuances, surprising rent control laws dating back to 1911, and the vibrant local lifestyle that sets Lisbon apart. We touched on many other global political issues as well that kept us all on our toes and the conversations continued thoughtfully. Our culinary journey began with a spectacular display of flaming chorizo, expertly cooked in a clay dish with a fiery flourish that left us all in awe. Lucie's adaptability and responsiveness to our interests and preferences ensured that the tour seamlessly tailored to our group dynamics, leading to delightful surprises like stumbling upon a captivating choir competition in a church with no ceiling. From sipping cherry liquor in chocolate cups at a local Ginjha spot to sharing a traditional sandwich, (my least favourite of the tour) each food stop was reflected Lucie's passion for showcasing Lisbon's local food culture. Her vibrant personality, quirky charm, and genuine love for her city made the tour not just educational but deeply engaging and memorable. Lucie's insights into the local lifestyle, job market, and the evolving economy added a thought-provoking dimension to our culinary adventure, leaving us with a profound appreciation for how Lisbon embraces tourism while preserving its unique identity. In Lucie, we found not just a tour guide but a storyteller, a cultural ambassador, and a passionate advocate for Lisbon's spirit. We departed the tour with full stomachs, and a newfound love for this vibrant city – all thanks to Lucie's exceptional guidance and infectious spirited enthusiasm. Ângelo’s food tour of Lisbon is an incredible way to get to know the city, its history and culture. He gave us a fabulous walk around of key sites but also some real nooks and crannies. Angelo is a terrific host who loves the city and its people. You can’t go past this tour.

Pedro was amazing… Our guide grew up in both Lisbon as well as in the US. His English was near perfect. He steered us away from all of the tourist traps and showed only local gems. He shared in sites about Lisbon, Portugal and other nearby regions. He was engaging, personable and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour.
