Estatua do Marques de Pombal

On our way out of Lisbon we will pass by the Marques de Pombal Statue. From here we will have a 35 minute drive to the Setúbal Wine Region.

25 de Abril Bridge

On this full-day tour, you will travel first to Azeitão, an area that is well known for its wines and cheese. On the way there, we will pass Lisbon´s old bridge. Our "Golden Gate". Reaching the Setúbal Wine Region, you will visit some of the region’s top wine cellars and taste fine wines and other produces.

Quinta do Alcube

One of the wineries you will visit is Quinta de Alcube. A wine cellar owned by a family for over a century (since 1913). It is a traditional cellar, that produces up to 350,000 litters per year. Here you will be able to taste 4 of their wines and understand how wine is done and their philosophy. Their wines are sold only directly to customers, making it difficult to find in shops.

Jose Maria de Fonseca

Another stop will be at the renowned wine cellars of José Maria da Fonseca, where you will learn about the winery’s history, since 1834, and sample 2 of its wines. This is one of the oldest wineries in Portugal, and the oldest of the region. Inside you will see the oldest wine collection of Portugal (Fortified Wine). Also here, they have the oldest cellar/brand that is 160 yrs old, and where they used unique handmade mahogany barrels that have a capacity of up to 20.000 liters.

Casa Mae da Rota de Vinhos

Your third and final experience, will be in the old village of Palmela. Here you will taste up to 5 more wines, in the “Mother House” of this wine region, where you can see and taste, what most of the 21 different wineries in this region produce.You will also sample some traditional local produced cheese, bread and other goods.

This tour is a must do if you appreciate wine, want to see 3 different wine facilities, and enjoy a day with a great guide. We had John (João), who actually owns the tour company, take us around to 3 different places to try wine. The first was one of the oldest family run wineries in the country, with the family still running it today. There we had a tour of the buildings and the grounds and got to try 3 different wines at the end. The next place was the “mother house” in Palmela where John walked us through 5 different wines, chosen to our tastes. Lastly, we went to a wine co-op facility where a few different brands make their wine. We had a great tasting in the cellar accompanied by a snack plate. If you’re lucky to have him, John is an amazing guide and is so knowledgeable about wine. We learned so much from him and highly recommend this experience if you are staying in Lisbon!

The tour was excellent. Joao was very knowledgeable and a great tour guide. The wine tasting was perfect and lunch of fresh fish was the best we ever had. Thank you Joao for making our Lisbon tour the best!!!!

Our guide John was excellent. He was so knowledgeable about not just the wine we were trying, but about Portuguese wine in general. He took us to 3 separate wineries. The first was the oldest family run winery in the country, where there was a tour around the cellars by someone who works there. The next was the mother wine house of the region where John walked us through 5 different wines. Then the last was more of a wine production plant where we had a lovely tasting and snack in the cellar. John is a very interesting guy, telling us about his life and experiences, and it was great to spend the day with him.

What a wonderful tour with top notch tour guides and operation. So glad my mom and I had this experience. From the moment of booking Joao reached out and made sure we were welcomed and had everything we needed for the tour. Our guide Rodrigo was amazing and offered us a great recommendation to taste some olive oil with Joana at Erva Douro the next day and we are so glad we did. Just fantastic. Rodrigo came to my mom's rescue as she lost her phone in the car and traveled back after dropping us off to return the phone. The wines were wonderful. The fresh local fish and lunch was so incredible some of the best food we have had since being here. The day was wonderful from beginning to end. Highly recommend this tour company and Rodrigo & Joao.

We had a fantastic day of wine tasting and lunch, enriched by Ricardo, our FABULOUS guide. Ricardo took us to a historic vineyard for a tour and wine tasting. We then visited the “Mothers House” for more wine tasting and education. He took us out to a delightful restaurant for lunch and then back to the “Mothers House” for more wine and conversation. Ricardo became instant friends with our group and we look forward to visiting with him on our next trip to Lisbon.

Paulo was a fantastic guide. Attentive, knowledgeable and fun. I opted for the lunch option and it was worth it to try authentic portugese food. A must when visiting Portugal!
