Jose is a true gentleman with a wealth of knowledge about his native Portugal and its history. He picked us up promptly at our hotel and became a true friend over the course of our all-day tour from sites in Lisbon, and then to Sintra where we visited the Royal Pena Palace with Jose as our personal guide. He then took us to a wonderful seafood restaurant on the ocean shore before moving on to a wine tasting at a vineyard where Gordon Ramsey had highlighted a new grape growing technique. He had everything planned out to beat the crowds and give my wife and I the best experience of our trip. Would highly recommend him to anyone visiting Lisbon

Jose was an excellent guide for Sintra and the surrounding areas for my friend and I. When they said “private tour”, I didn’t envision it would actually be my friend and I and our guide, but it was. One on one time where we could easily ask questions, and relax in the spacious van in between stops. Jose was full of key information about the landmarks and cities and made us feel very comfortable and welcome. We never felt rushed at each stop or landmark, as he gave us no limit to how much time we could spend there. He has a great sense of humor! At the end of it we all had many laughs and made a new friend in Jose. He took us to a wine lodge to taste some truly one of a kind wines, and they were incredible! What a great experience and a great day trip outside of Lisbon.

Jose was a terrific guide! Our private tour was on 13 May. He got us to the palace at opening and we had a wonderful, unrushed informative tour...and the weather was perfect! We opted to walk up and down from the palace rather than the bus. Made it very enjoyable for us. Lunch was at an out of the way place on the beach...delicious and beautiful setting. Colares wine tasting and visit to see where the grapes grow was very interesting. We really enjoyed our day with Jose, and would tell you to request him from Lisbon on Wheels through Viator. Thank you Jose!!

This private tour took us to Pena Palace, which was amazing, to an old winery in Colares, where wine tasting was mediocre, to Cabo de la Roca, which was just a viewing point and to our opinion not worth it the visit. We also went to Cascais for lunch and our driver Gonzalo choose a very good restaurant. Cascais was nice. Gonzalo was a pleasant company and driver. We had booked this tour because of excellent reviews given to a guide called José. Unfortunately even after confirmation that José was going to be our guide, we were informed two hours before our tour on April 17th that he could not make due to some health issues. Communication with the tour provider was not as smooth as with other providers. They did not answer to messages via trip advisor and I had to contact them via WhatsApp. Even vía WhatsApp they answered with delay. Overall the tour was OK but taking into account the price and comparing to other private tours we are doing in Portugal it did not meet the expectations raised by previous reviews.

The tour was wonderful and Jose was an amazing host! He was engaging , intelligent and well versed in the history of the country and its people. Our planned tour included several points of interest :Pena Palace, Sintra and a local winery in Colares. He was spot on with his suggestions for restaurants, shopping areas and other noteworthy areas of the countryside and was adept at recommending additional stops that appealed to our specific group members. Honestly, the entire day was wonderful and it felt like we were traveling with a well informed local friend.
