Your Itinerary

Cape Saint Vincent

Being the most south-westerly point in mainland Europe, this rugged and forbidding Cape has long been considered sacred ground – ancient Greeks called it the ‘Land of Serpents’, but the pugnacious Romans oddly preferred a meeker designation: Promontorium Sacrum (‘Holy Promontory’), the Latin origin of the name ‘Sagres’ (from Sacrum). For them, terra firma-loving citizens of Rome, Cape St. Vincent was the ‘Edge of the World’, a supernatural vortex where the setting sun was dramatically submerged by the immense, unknown ocean (still today, the fading solar disk occasionally seems bigger and brighter at Cape St. Vincent). The myth persisted throughout the Middle Ages until a man decided to end all that crazy nonsense and – in the process – put an end to the Age of Darkness: Prince Henry the Navigator

Sagres

Sagres, located in the southwestern tip of the Algarve region, is a place of captivating beauty and historical significance. Known as the "End of the World" before the Age of Discovery, Sagres occupies a unique place in maritime history. The town's rugged coastline is defined by dramatic cliffs that plunge into the rough waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Relentless winds have sculpted the landscape over millennia, creating a wild and untamed beauty that attracts visitors from all over the world. It's a place where you can stand on the edge of Europe, feeling the full force of the elements, and marvel at the vastness of the ocean stretching out before you.

Lagos

Lagos is a historic and characterful city that is situated on the beautiful Western Algarve. It is a city that boasts a rich seafaring heritage and a coastline of dramatic natural scenery, and today is one of the Algarve’s finest holiday destinations. We will park outside the walled town, then our guide will lead you on a walking tour to the center of town, giving you tips for restaurants as well as places to visit. The town is small, so you can easily cover the most interesting places on foot. The guide will then set a meeting point to collect everyone later for return. Then from there the customers will have more than 2 and a half hours to enjoy Lagos on their own.

Ponta da Piedade Lighthouse

The cliffs of the Ponta da Piedade headland is one of the finest natural features of the Algarve. This dramatic limestone coastline is formed of sea pillars, fragile rock arches and hidden grottos, all of which have been chiselled-out by savage winter storms.

My mum and I had the most fantastic trip! We saw all the beautiful sights along the coast and Gabriel was so informative and such a wonderful guide! Loved the semi private tour, we got to explore Lagos on our own and had a lovely time. Would 100% recommend to anyone thinking of seeing the beautiful cliffs!

Gabriel was the perfect guide, he is so knowledgeable and really wanted us to get the best experience from the tour. His passion shone through. You need to book this trip to see Lagos and Sagres and the beautiful sights along the way, you will not be disappointed.

The tour operator arrived at meeting place and picked up two people without checking who they were. After driving for 40 minutes he received a call from a couple who were still waiting to be picked up, turned out he picked up the wrong people. From then on we endured over 2 hours of anxiety, he was driving dangerously while on a phone, trying to fix this situation for all the other participants. Eventually dropped us off in Lagos, where we had to wait for 1.5 hours. Instructed us to go see the city on our own, but we did not want to do that and then duplicate the experience once the right participants arrive. We ended up not seeing Lagos at all, the itinerary was modified, was all hectic, the guide was extremely hyper talking all over the place, trying to justify his mistake. At no point, we were apologized to, he promised to buy us a glass of wine or coffee, did not do any of that. The focus was all on the other people that were wronged, we did not matter. Our itinerary was reduced, our time was extended, we did not hear a single word of apology. Somehow we still gave him a small tip. This is absolutely unacceptable, our whole day was ruined, the tour did not follow the itinerary and did not meet expectations. We can’t get our time back, but we can warn others.

Do yourself a favour and book this tour with Gabriel from GL Tours! I’d give it 10 stars if I could. Gabriel was friendly, prompt and very knowledgeable. His passion for his country shone through. He took us to some of the most beautiful viewpoints in all of Portugal and gave us time to explore them at our own pace. We really enjoyed our day.

Gabriel was very experienced and knowledgable. It was a very well spent day tour. He would talk of wind and nature how it affects the waves and Colors. Would recommend definitely for someone who would like to have a quick view of Lagos and beauty of awesome seashores

If I could leave more than 5 stars, I would. Gabriel, our tour guide, was one of the most enthusiastic and down to earth people I have ever met. He genuinely enjoys what he does and it really reflects this through his tour. It was only 4 of us on the tour which really made the tour feel a bit more intimate. He gave us a great recommendation for lunch and just gave us everything we needed to know about these areas. If you are in Albufeira, please don’t miss this opportunity!

Our guide Gabriel was great. He picked us up from the hotel (which was actually not included) and is also a polite, handsome and funny guy, that gave us a lot of great tips and background knowledge. A really great trip with nice people an great spots. Definately recommend it.

I came across GL Tours on Trip Advisor whilst looking for things to do in and around Olhos de Agua. This was the first time that we had looked at doing a private tour on holiday and I wanted to make sure that the experience would be worth the cost, so I contacted Gabriel by email through his website. I explained that we liked history, nature and great views, so he suggested the Lagos and Sagres full day tour, which sounded perfect for us. He does get booked up quite early, but luckily we were able to book the tour for a day in the middle of our trip. On the day of the tour, we were a bit surprised that Gabriel was late – until it turned out that I’d given him the wrong hotel details (we were at the Tui Blue Falesia, but I’d mistakenly told him we were at the Falesia – doh!). Luckily the two hotels are not far from each other, so he soon arrived to pick us up and then we headed off on our tour. The weather in Olhos de Agua was rather overcast that day, but Gabriel had already checked to see what the weather was like further west and assured us that the sun would definitely make an appearance – and he was right! We initially headed west on the local roads so we could view the city of Silves from afar, before heading along the main roads to the Atlantic coast. Gabriel gave us a lot of information while he was driving, which made the journey time speed by! Our first stop there was the Cordoama and Castelejo beach clifftop viewpoint. I think this was my favourite stop on the tour – the views were just stunning! From there we headed into Sagres to see King Henry Square, Sagres Bay and the fisherman’s port. We then carried on to “the edge of the world” at Cape St Vincent for some more stunning cliff views. Afterwards, we started heading back east, stopping for a while in Lagos for lunch and a walking tour. Gabriel ended the tour at the Ponta da Piedade headland, with more stunning views, before dropping us back at the hotel. Despite being out for 7 hours, the time had flown by and we couldn’t believe how much we had managed to cover during the day! Along with all of the places that we visited, and the information that Gabriel shared with us, we were really pleased by his willingness to tailor the tour to suit us. The only disappointment is that we only booked one tour with him (entirely our fault!) – but at least that gives us plenty of options next time we are in the area. Overall, the tour was a fantastic experience, and definitely very good value for money – highly recommended!

There is so much to see in the Algarve and Gabriel definitely made sure we saw a LOT! In one day which was awesome if you are only in for the day. I would deff recommend!
