Our tour guide, Josef, an incredibly knowledgeable and engaging person, who’s ability to recreate the historical details of the D-Day occurrence while taking us the whole length of the beach landings, including the airborne drop areas, made for a truly memorable and meaningful experience.

Emilie was a great guide, very knowledgeable of the history of Normandy D-Day. The American Cemetery will forever hold our respect and honor in our hearts. We will never forget this eye opening experience.

Professional, knowledgeable, affable, and trustworthy best describe the custom tours provided by this family-owned business. We booked “Private Trip” several months in advance for a six-hour tour of the sites of Paris and a separate full day tour to Normandy. The booking process via email was simple, and Deborah was very communicative about the details and the pricing. Through his near perfect English, his prior experience in the five-star hotel industry, and his incredible knowledge of and passion for history, Jozef provided us with two very memorable days. He took great pride in imparting us with in-depth and detailed analyses, coupled with interesting stories, to fully explain the highlights and historical significance at each destination. On the day of our Paris tour, Jozef promptly picked us up at our hotel in a new Volvo XC60. At each stop, he constantly provided not only information as to what we were seeing, but he offered in-depth historical background and context, inclusive of all the “who, what, where, and why”. By the end of the day, which lasted longer than advertised six hours (without any additional cost), we encountered most of the major attractions and many of the lesser-known landmarks of Paris and acquired a vast historical perspective which greatly enhanced our overall experience. Our second excursion was to Normandy, including Omaha Beach, the American military cemetery, and a tour of the surrounding areas. Standing on the beach, Jozef recreated D-Day, including who was positioned where, the troops involved on each side, the backgrounds of the troops, the impact of the weather, the lines of fire, the weaponry and vehicles, the natural and man-made obstacles, etc. With each step it become more evident that Jozef knew every inch of the terrain and he had read dozens of books from which he pieced together multiple historical accounts from a variety of perspectives. This was a once in a lifetime adventure lead by the perfect guide who pays impeccable attention to detail and his clients’ experience. In addition to the tours listed on their website, Jozef and Deborah also offer customized tours to fit individual interests. We plan to return for personalized tours of Champagne country and other WW1 and WW2 battle sites. The experiences provided by Jozef and Deborah of “Private Trip” are worth every penny (or Euro).

Let me add to the list of glowing reviews for this tour service. At the outset, setting up the tour with Deborah was smooth and professional. All of my questions were answered promptly. The day before the tour I received a text from Jozef to confirm arrangements and to advise on Normandy weather conditions. Jozef met us at our Paris hotel at 6:30 AM. He has a comfortable van which easily held the 4 of us. As we drove to Normandy we got to know each other and Jozef began to give us background on the events surrounding D Day. We marveled at Jozef's depth and breadth of knowledge. He is a treasure trove of information, and conveyed that information with passion and respect for the subject matter. It is impossible in a short post to review the entirety of the day. Suffice to say we started with the events in the zone in which American paratroopers deployed, moved to the D Day beaches and ended at the American cemetery. A very moving day. We all agreed the the tour with Jozef was the highlight of our 18 days in France! Jozef has even provided me with a list of follow up books on the subject. Can I give 6 stars? When we return to France we will be using PT/Jozef for other tours.

Emilie lead us on a wonderful trip to Normandy from Paris! My husband and I have been there before on our own and we wanted to show our 22 yo History Major son the WWII sights. Emilie had some out of the way sights and history to show us that we had never seen and would not be able to in a big group. Definitely important and interesting facts that we all enjoyed. Emilie turned us on to some related historical movies to watch that will enhance our understanding of the times and mood of WWII. Highly recommend this trip for anyone wanting to get more in-depth understanding of the war and its sights. Emilie is a gem!!

Our day trip to Normandy was an experience of a lifetime! Jozef picked us up promptly at our hotel and from that point forward, he made the day a most memorable one for us. He was engaging, extremely knowledgable, very accommodating, used visual charts as well as audio clips to give us an authentic experience of how the events of the D-Day invasion occurred. Our visit to the American cemetery was a very somber and humbling experience as well. He took us to a seaside restaurant for lunch and as we traveled back to Paris, later that afternoon, he gave us so much more information about France, Paris, and other sights we may want to see on a return visit. He is certainly deserving of a 5 star rating and I would highly recommend Jozef for this and any other tour!
