The trip was amazing. Marylou was a very experienced and knowledgable naturalist guide for the experience and Diego made the ride very smooth and enjoyable despite the wind working against us. I learned a lot about the birds, the geology, geography and as a bonus we saw about 200 dolphins! A really wonderful way to spend a morning. Abrogada!

I did 2 excursions with Azores Marine expeditions. Each was very pleasant with excellent guides. Sure I'll do it again when back in Sao Miguel

We really enjoyed this boat trip! The guide was so knowledgeable and the captain was brilliant at sailing the boat close to the seabirds. Big bonus seeing Whales and Flying Fish too!!

Nice crew, great experience to watch the birds on the rocks in front of the harbour. We even saw and learned a lot about Cory's shearwater! Thanks for the good explanations on board and beforehand and for the friendly service.

We've been on a birdwatching tour with Lorenzo and also did a whale watching tour the day before. The guides know a lot about about the animals, their life and habitat and are very happy about curious guests :) On the whale watching tour, we were super lucky to see a huge swarm of about 200 dotted dolphins with very playful baby dolphins and later a smaller swarm of bottle nose dolphins. At birdwatching, we went around the small island and found whimbrels and later on the open sea groups of Cory Sheerwaters. The latter have an awesome style of flying, sailing low above the water surface without moving much. A must-see! If you are lucky, you may notice their funny sounds in the evening when they are back at land. As a big highlight, we finally saw sperm whales! The first one dived very soon and we could see the typical movement of lifting the head slightly, then his huge tail as he went down for feeding. Then, we observed a beautiful young whale lady that was sleeping in the water. She was floating around and turned around showing us her nose and belly. Then she came closer and looked at us, swam around the boat - I think she went on a human watching tour that day! :) All in all we can highly recommend to participate in both tours! Thank you for having us!

Had a wonderful time with Lorenzo and Joao! They were the perfect guides for our Birdwatching adventure off the coast of Vila Franca De campo! Even though the weather was less than predictable, the crew made our adventure safe, educational, and fun! I highly recommend this tour for all birders and marine life admirers! Thanks again for the awesome trip! John

The guide was knowledgeable about birds, but weren’t many to be seen. The highlight of the trip were the sperm whales. It was the first that we were seeing them! There was a large one in front of us that dove as the guide said she was going to do, showing her flukes . A smaller one very swam slowly around our boat and turned on her back. Unforgettable!

Due to some amazing weather conditions, we decided to go on a marine bird watching trip with Terra Azul, departing from Villa Franco*. Although we didn't see any of the rarer species (Summer is not the best season for seeing rare marine birds), we had a great time out on the water. We went out on a small zodiac, with a great skipper and naturalist guide. We learned a lot about the possible birds we could encounter, but also more about the history of the island. We encountered multiple groups of Cory shearwaters, often feeding, which provided great photo opportunities. Often these feeding aggregations were associated with dolphins, which were a nice bonus. All in all a great day, we highly recommend going out with Terra Azul.
