Camara De Lobos

Câmara de Lobos is a small fishing village located in the southern part of the island. João Gonçalves Zarco, one of the island´s discoverers, upon disembarking found many sea lions who sought shelter in the coastline´s rocky caves. It was then that the town was christened with the name “Câmara de lobos”, Câmara meaning Municipal chamber and lobos meaning sea lions. The landscape that surrounds this city is marked by the presence of its characteristic fishing boats known as 'Xavelhas'.

How many people can fit in a Spinach car? Maximum of 2 people per vehicle.
What is the maximum weight capacity of a Spinach car? The Maximum Weight for 2 people is 200kg (440lbs)
What is the age requirement for renting a Spinach car? The minimum age to drive is 18 years old. Children aged 7 to 12 years or at least 1.20 m (3.93 ft) can travel in a Booster seat (let us know in advance if you need one). All minors must be accompanied by an adult, and it is mandatory to sign a Term of Responsibility for children up to 13 years old.
What documents do I need to rent a Spinach? You need a valid Driver’s License and an ID document or Passport. Copies of Documents will not be admissible
What is the car’s autonomy? The maximum autonomy is 90km, however it depends on the way you drive the Spinach
What happens if the car runs out of battery during my rental? You will have to call the telephone number that is written on the car, and we will give you all the necessary support in order to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

How far in advance must I get to the location where the experience begins? All customers with reservation must check in 15min prior to the tour start.
What is the company's policy on rescheduling the experience in case of bad weather conditions? In case of bad weather conditions and if the company considers that there are no safety conditions to operate the activity, it’s possible to reschedule it for the same day depending on availability.
What forms of payment do we accept for Spinach rentals? We accept payments by debit or credit card, cash, and bank transfer (only for groups)

Are there any restrictions on where I can park a Spinach car? You can park the Spinach wherever cars and motorcycles are parked. You just have to pay attention, because some of these parking lots are paid.
What happens if there's an accident or the car is damaged during my rental? The car's documents are in the trunk, and it has third-party liability insurance, just as in a typical auto accident. Contact the support number in order to streamline the procedure.
Can I take a Spinach car outside of the city limits? We recommend driving just on the chosen route so that you can fully enjoy the experience. There are also roads that are prohibited, such as motorways, highways, and bridges.

A great way to see and learn about Funchal and the surrounding area including Camera de Lobos, at your own pace. Excellent commentary from the onboard tablet guidance system- you won’t get lost. The Spinach owner was extremely helpful and welcoming with great communications.

We booked Spinach Tours as we had a day in Madeira and had seen it mentioned in a Facebook group. It did not disappoint. We followed zipped around following the preplanned route whilst listening to some to a commentary. Highly recommend, and if you’re passing through on a cruise it is easy to walk to from the cruise terminal.

Highlight of the maderia trip, 2 fellas in the shop couldn't do enough for us. Ended up coming back the next day and getting the cars for 5 hours and they did us a great deal. Couldn't recommend enough.👌

We had a really fun and informative 4 hours . We were a bit nervous about driving abroad but the staff and the car made it easy. We took a couple of little detours from the recommend route( which is allowed) and it was lovely to see streets where locals actually live and appreciate the garden and see view I haven’t seen on the bus tours. Would highly recommend.

Great experience driving around with this. We did a one hour tour to Camara de Lobos. A word of warning: you'll have a lot to look at along the way! People take photos of you and find it very special. Very friendly employees, clear explanations and the instructions on the navigation are very clear, but also very fun and interactive! We have another week in Madeira and are thinking about possibly doing the other tours as well. Thank you for this very nice experience!
