This was my first visit to Falling Water. My sister has been wanting to come here since she was little. So for her birthday on our roadtrip to Minnesota, I took her here. It was a rather warm summer day but this house has is in the woods. As a matter of fact, when you are driving to it, you really feel like you are going the wrong way. It is deep deep in the woods! Keep driving you will finally arrive. Being that it’s in the woods, there is a lot of trees creating shade and keeping it cool. There are no elevators so there are stairs you have to climb throughout the house. Wheelchairs are accessible to the first floor. There is about a 1 mile of walking on gravel paths uphill and downhill so those with mobility issues may have some problems visiting this house. It’s a unique looking house and very airy! A nice site to visit. It’s pretty amazing how modern the house is from being built in 1937. The photos truly don’t do it justice. The way the windows open and how every space has several views of the falls and water. The landscape is beautiful and must be absolutely gorgeous in the fall with the trees changing colors! You can choose to visit the house or just the grounds. If you choose the house, the grounds are included! It’s truly a beautiful place to visit. I do recommend it!

Despite a rainy gloomy day Fallingwater did not fail to impress. The staff were very helpful and were able to accommodate my friend and me for an earlier outdoor tour. Sturdy walking shoes are a must as the route to the structure is an all downhill trail and wet leaves on the wooden steps kept us alert. Umbrellas are available on site for free use. Just a heads up…if you desire an indoor tour you must book months in advance of the fall season. Our guide was so knowledgeable and accommodating, very attentive to the older tourists as they navigated the trail. There was a shuttle back to the visitor’s center if desired. Truly is spectacular! Would suggest a Wikipedia search prior to the visit.

Book your visit to tour the inside of the house ahead of time! The week before the trip it looked like there would be plenty of spots available, but when we got there they were fully booked. Even so, we did pay to see the grounds -- which turned out to be every bit as satisfying - we could walk around the outside for pictures, see into the living room and other parts of the home, and talk with the grounds staff about the history of the place. Well worth a day trip from Pittsburgh, but we were passing through on our way home to Michigan from Washington DC and chose to stay overnight at the Smith House Inn 25 minutes away. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and a great way to break up the trek home!.

We highly recommend Fallingwater. It is a national treasure, is well maintained and the guides are very well informed. All of the furnishings and items in the house are original and as an engineer, the things that Frank Lloyd Wright designed into the house were amazing for the time. Well worth the investment in time to visit.

Fallingwater is a unique, beautiful piece of architecture. Try to get the in-depth tour tickets, they sellout fast. Nice to see the pretty countryside as Charles explains what you are seeing.

Joe our tour guide was AMAZING!!! He made our day very special and we would highly recommend him. On different note arrangements for the tour do not make sense. Fallingwater needs to be booked in advance separately from the tour which is not noted on the tour site before confirmation and payment. Only after tour is booked you are notified that you heed to make separate arrangements to visit the Fallingwater. That does not make sense because if one is making last minute arrangements once tour is booked it cannot be cancelled and it is very likely fallingwater will not have availability - and you have just burned almost $400 Alternatively this tour shouldn’t be open for last minute reservations. We were lucky our tix were already booked and we just needed transportation from Pittsburgh
