Fátima Shrine The Shrine of our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima is a place of pilgrimage, which celebrates the apparitions of Our Lady of Fátima to the three little shepherds: Lúcia de Jesus, Francisco and Jacinta Marto. At the Shrine you can visit the Chapel of Apparitions and the Church of ‘Santíssima Trindade’.
Batalha Monastery
This exceptional architectural ensemble is the result of the fulfillment of a promise made by King João I of Portugal in gratitude for the victory in Aljubarrota, a battle fought on August 14th, 1385, which secured the throne and guaranteed the independence of Portugal. It is one of the most beautiful works of Gothic and Manueline architecture. Nowadays, Batalha Monastery is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
