- Crossing one of Lisbon's bridges to the south, our first stop will be at an artisanal factory producing the famous Azeitão cheese (1h30). - Then we continue to a small factory of traditional Portuguese tiles (1h30). - Free time for lunch in the cozy village of Azeitão (lunch not included in tour price). - We end our day at a family-run winery (1h) before heading back to Lisbon again. The distances between the places we visit are short and I will always be there. Tour can be customized upon request.

We wanted something a bit different than the standard food & wine tours (though those are awesome too!) and the Artisanal Delights tour fit the bill perfectly. João has truly created a unique tour that we enjoyed from start to finish. We love cheese, so beginning with a tour of a family-owned cheese-making facility was a great start to the day. It's a fascinating process--and ended with a chance to sample a number of the delicious cheeses the facility produces. Yum! After that, we were off to the tile-painting experience. But, it was more than that. Just like in the cheese factory, we learned a ton about the background of creating tiles prior to actually sitting down to paint our tiles. It was interesting learning about painting technique and the different ways to create specific looks with the tile. Finally, we were off to a local winery for the wine tasting portion of the day. João did a wonderful job explaining the wines--including answering my constant questions! All in all a fantastic experience that we would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed this experience. The tour guide was very friendly, personable and knowledgeable. He picked us up at our hotel and took us to three very interesting activities. We started with a fascinating tour of a cheese making factory that ended with a wonderful cheese and wine tasting. He then took us to a very cool tile making factory where we not only got to paint our own tiles like advertised but were allowed to help make one as well. And finally ended with a wine tasting of some very delicious wines at a small local vineyard. I highly recommend this package if you are in the area.

John was an amazing tour guide! It was such a great tour that I actually booked another private tour with him immediately. John is the exact tour guide you are looking for. He definitely knows his history and impressed me multiple times with his vast knowledge of each area. He caters the tour to you if you hire him as a private guide. Not only was all the history amazing, but just talking about life in general and cultural difference definitely made the day go by almost too fast. Between the two different tours, I'll attach some of my most favorite pictures from the days. Don't hesitate to book this tour and give John a shout if you are in lisbon and want to see some of the amazing spots within the country
