    this place is an academy. Even though this is part of the Chicago Park District and we had grand plans to do Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium as well, we just couldn’t. The Field Museum is just vast, and even after spending an entire day, we couldn’t see all the exhibits! This place has everything, let it be for learning evolution, different tribes and cultures, Native American history, insects, lose yourself in the deep ocean, or of course learn about the ever fascinating dinosaurs with its exhibit of real T-Rex skeleton (the famous Sue) and the Titanosaurus exhibit among others. The Unseen Ocean exhibit letting us explore the vast realm of oceans (which cover more than 70 percent of the Earth) is truly awesome, when you enter the exhibit you are greeted by a projection of waves lapping at your feet. The blood suckers exhibit is fantastic, you get to learn so much about how mosquitoes, leeches and vampire bats manage to suck you out of RBCs. (No kidding, my 5-year old actually wanted to go back to this exhibit, it’s that cool). There are 3-D movies (we watched T-Rex which was really good); you can make instant plastic molds of dinos; there is a play area. You name it, this place has it. We took membership as that would give us free access to many museums all over the world! (They provide a list of museums covered under that membership, and honestly the price came about the same as taking individual tickets for two adults and a child, so why not). Of all the exhibits, Sue the 20 something year old T-Rex is still the star, mainly coz its real head and skeleton are in separate displays in the area.

    We took the tour of the dinosaur exhibit. It was truly amazing! The tour guide John gave us a great insight into the dinosaur exhibit.

    Spectacular museum! Definitely needed another day to see everything! Saw all three dinosaur movies, walked through the incredible underground exhibit, spent several hours with the dinosaurs and perused Ancient Egypt. So much to see and all ages loved our day there!

    The place is beautiful and well organized, making you see many places in the world, then animals section was great

    The Field Museum has been favorite for my childhood and adult lives. The science fairs and special attractions have always been amazing. I loved being in the main majestic hall filled with the history of our world and the amazing Chicago's own Sue the T REX. I have been going since I was a child, then taking my children. However, I had looked forward to taking my grandchildren as they love dinosaurs and the Field Museum had always been a sightseeing staple. Well today came and I was so looking forward to an amazing experience with my grand nuggets. Whar I found was a pathetic shell of what was once a great experience. The Museum has been reduced to 1/3 of the size it once was (even by looking at the architecture from the outside) the once grand main floor with impressive statues ending at Sue the massive T REX with the mural across that back wall has been reduced to a couple of elephants nothing of substance. Now Sue is hidden away in a corner of the 3rd floor, instead of her majestic glory she is now small and unimpressive. My dinosaur obsessed grandchildren were disappointed, as I had built up her magnificence that I had always experienced. Even comparing pictures from my youth, my childrens youth and the ones I took with my grandchildren the magic is gone. I was fortunate to get free all access passes for our outing today, so luckily I didn't spend a fortune, $30 on parking, $30 on one 3D movie and $30 on snack/lunch. Totally more than it was worth. I will be sticking with MSI, the Aquarium and the Planetarium from now on, because quite honestly the Field Museum is NOT worth the time or money anymore.
