Your Itinerary

Flattop Mountain Trail

This is the perfect tour if you are looking to go on an easy hike, learn about Alaska’s vegetation and animal populations, and see one on the Chugach State Park’s most photogenic alpine valleys. We’ll start by meandering through hemlock forests scarred by thrashing leeward winds from the Turnagain Arm. Snowshoe Hares make their homes here attracting the rare lynx living in the area. Wild geraniums, bluebells, and forget-me-nots pop up In June and blissful blueberries, funky fungi, and changing colors tell us when summer is coming to a close. The flora and fauna of the Glen Alps tell us a story of an ecosystem living in harmony just outside of Anchorage. Moose and bear birth their young in spring and mate during the fall months. They travel through the mountains and valley in search of their favorite browse, providing ample opportunity for wildlife viewing and photography. Transportation included in total time of tour: (1 hour transportation & 2 hours walking)

Bryce was an awesome guide! We was very knowledgeable and you could tell he truly loves his job. We had a great hike, and learned a lot about the area!

Bryce and Liv were great. We enjoyed our chats while hiking on the beautiful day we had in Anchorage. We had a small group and we were able to really walk at our own pace and not be overwhelmed. A great way to get close to nature.

Great views of the city and Cook Inlet as well as mountains and pass between. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the local plants.

The flora and fauna walk is lovely. There are great views of Anchorage, and the flowers were spectacular. The guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and I was very happy with the experience. When we booked, I was initially disappointed that it was the only available hike with room because it was so short and easy. But being able to wander about, stop and take pictures of beautiful flowers, and take time to enjoy brought great pleasure.

Fabulous experience and our guides were terrific! Great pace on the hike, knowledgeable about the plants and very friendly.

Our guide was very young (just completed first year of college) and lacked both the knowledge and maturity to do a good job. My wife, a knowledgeable gardener, corrected him a few times, and he was unable to answer many of her questions. We were "in nature", but saw very little variety of flora. Very poor choice of location, and incmpetent guide.

This is a lovely outing if you have some time and love to be in nature,, our tour guide Jacob was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable about the area, the tracks, the plants and the flora in the area... He had some amazing stories as did our co-passenger who had spent his childhood in Alaska..

Great walk! Turned out to be a private tour as we were the only couple. Very knowledgeable guide. Great experience!

We are seniors and my husband has Parkinson's Disease. Our guide Jason was absolutely wonderful. He was mindful of the pace we kept but we were able to have a wonderful wilderness adventure. He was very knowledgeable and thoughtful. It was such a blessing to be in a peaceful beautiful forest and see Eagle River and the amazing falls!
