What to expect
Palazzo Medici Riccardi
Led by a local professional guide, your day will start with a comprehensive Walking Tour, discovering the most iconic sights of Renaissance and Medieval Florence. You will first explore the Medici district, where you will admire the famous Medici Palace, built in the mid 15th century and the first residence of the powerful and proud family, the ancient San Lorenzo Church and the Medici Chapels, with their mausoleum.
Duomo - Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore
A few steps away, you will be breathless in front of the beauty of the monumental complex of the Duomo, with the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the iconic Brunelleschi's Dome, the elegant Giotto's Bell Tower and the beautiful Romanesque Baptistery of San Giovanni, with its golden “Porta del Paradiso.
Museo Casa di Dante
The tour then goes through the characteristic streets of the medieval district where Dante and Beatrice lived and where you can also admire the imposing and unique Church of Orsanmichele, a masterpiece of Florentine Gothic art, adorned with the statues of the patron saints of the powerful medieval trading guilds.
Piazza della Signoria
You will be led then to the picturesque Straw Market: don’t forget to rub the nose of the famous “porcellino” (little pig). Going on, you will find yourself in Piazza Signoria, one of the most beautiful squares in the world and the political center of the city. In this “open-air museum”, be fascinated by the beautiful Fountain of Neptune with the imposing marble statue of Ammannati and by the sculptural masterpieces of the Loggia dei Lanzi, including the Perseus by Cellini and the Rape of the Sabines by Giambologna
Palazzo Vecchio
Dominating the square, the majestic Palazzo Vecchio with Arnolfo's crenellated tower, one of the most famous symbols of Florence.
Ponte Vecchio
Following from the outside the spectacular elevated path of the Vasari Corridor, you will arrive at the romantic and picturesque Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence, and you will end this amazing walking tour admiring its renowned jewelry shops!
Florence
The rest of the day is at your leisure: you can enjoy your free time going for some shopping and discover unique art crafts in the numerous Florentine artisan shops, taste local products in one of the restaurants on the first floor of the Central Market or just sit at the table of a historic café in Piazza della Repubblica.
