Palazzo Medici Riccardi

Led by a local professional guide, your day will start with a comprehensive Walking Tour, discovering the most iconic sights of Renaissance and Medieval Florence. You will first explore the Medici district, where you will admire the famous Medici Palace, built in the mid 15th century and the first residence of the powerful and proud family, the ancient San Lorenzo Church and the Medici Chapels, with their mausoleum.

Piazza della Signoria

You will be led then to the picturesque Straw Market: don’t forget to rub the nose of the famous “porcellino” (little pig). Going on, you will find yourself in Piazza Signoria, one of the most beautiful squares in the world and the political center of the city. In this “open-air museum”, be fascinated by the beautiful Fountain of Neptune with the imposing marble statue of Ammannati and by the sculptural masterpieces of the Loggia dei Lanzi, including the Perseus by Cellini and the Rape of the Sabines by Giambologna

Our Guide Marta was knowledgeable about the history of the city, she could explain very detail our enquiry about the city history with all the drama and conflics, eventough the participants were only us since the others not turned up yet Marta still did her job sincerely and enthusiastically.

The 1.5 hour tour was great. Our guide Mia was outstanding - really enjoyed the history lesson. The actual TOUR ended by around 12:30. Then you have free time for the entire day. Just some thoughts to consider You need to know ahead that you arrive at the train station then need to walk nearly a mile to meet the guide in the city at the starting point. From there the WALKING tour is about another 1.5 miles to the end of the tour - which is probably a 2 mile walk back to the train. This is the minimum walking amount because you can and should cross the river and visit the other side. You would have approximately 6 hours to remaining to walk around more and have lunch etc. We had already clocked nearly 5 miles and we still had 60% of the day left. I am 66 years old and it got to be a little much. One of our younger adult guests was also not feeling great that day so we had a late lunch and decided to try and rebook an earlier train. Thank you to the tour company for that accommodation. Note we had a restaurant in the center area call us a taxi to take us to the train. Also huge shout out to them! In the end we had fun but felt that the tour should be more transparent about the details of a great deal of walking - hence the 4-star review.

Recomiendo el tour guiado a pie con explicaciones de la guia. Nos da una visión perfecta de la ciudad que es auténticamente medieval
