Your Itinerary

Ostuni

Ostuni, a picturesque town to be experienced. Known as the "White City", Ostuni boasts a wonderful medieval village, rich with alleys and whitewashed houses, which recalls an oriental landscape. You will have free time to visit the old town centre, called "la terra" ("the land"), characterized by alleys, sloping stairs, courtyards and small squares, where whitewashed houses, craft shops and typical small shops appear.

Alberobello

Visiting the beautiful Alberobello is like a journey in a timeless country. You will have free time at disposal to explore its characteristic historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is integrally made up of Trulli, particular white, pyramidal structures that make it unique in the world and represent one of the most extraordinary examples of Italian folk architecture. Particularly striking are the two districts: "Rione Monti" with its local handcrafts shops and "Aia Piccola", where the most ancient Trulli and little museums are situated.

Polignano a Mare

The beautiful Polignano a Mare, birthplace to the famous Domenico Modugno. Polignano a Mare stands on a cliff falling sheer to the sea. You will have free time at disposal to explore the historic center and the remains of Roman rule. Among the latter, the bridge of the Via Traiana, still viable. Entering the historic center, through a maze of streets, alleys and squares animated by local shops and restaurants, you find yourself on three terraces overlooking the sea to enjoy a breathtaking view.

Stephano was an excellent guide giving helpful information in good English about the places we were visiting and the local economy. The timings of the visits to the three places we were visiting were just right.

Even though we had wet and cold weather on the day of our tour, our tour guide Stefano made sure we still had a wonderful experience. We visited three of the most beautiful places in the Itrea region and as we drove between stops Stefano gave us a lot of information about the local traditions, history, agriculture and much more. He was flexible with how much time was spent at each location and gave us tips about where to get refreshments and any shopping. Would highly recommend this tour.

We enjoyed all 3 cities. They were very unique. I think the highlight were the trullies. That was a magic little city. Our driver Stefano did an excellent job providing a lot of fascinating historical information.

Stefano is a wonderful guide full of great information about the Puglia. We saw three very different towns with plenty of time to wander around each at your own leisure.

Great tour to see the highlights of Puglia. We spent just enough time in all three towns to be able to leisurely see the sights. Stefano was a very knowledgeable guide and gave great tips for lunch places etc. The van was also comfortable for travelling. Would recommend!

We were picked up by Stefano at exactly the right time, and this punctuality was true throughout the day. We were just the two of us and settled in very quickly with Stefano, who was very relaxed and informative. On the other hand, we were not "over-informed," which gave us time to see the scenery and chat about other things too. At Ostuni, we had time to gaze at the high white walls and have a relaxing coffee and loo break before being on our way again. We then went on to Alberobello where we gazed at the extraordinary Trulli...the stone work is amazing...in fact the whole area is covered with examples of dry stone walls which are hand made ...plus the Trulli themselves also dry stone built...amazing to think the farmers rushed to pull the Trulli down every time that a tax collecter came into sight! Finally we went to Polignano a Mare...birthplace of one of Italy's most famous popular singers. Beautiful old town with wonderful vistas of the Adriatic. Delicious cocktails and then home to Lecce. Never felt rushed and always comfortable. Basically, Stefano points out several things of interest, arranges the meet-up time, and leaves you to sort yourselves out. It all worked perfectly, and we got home to Lecce very refreshed and ready for dinner! An excellent tour giving maximum information and experience of a region in an easygoing manner.

I knew I wanted to see these places and Stefano really brought them alive for me with his knowledge of the region and its history. Because I was on the tour alone we were able to customize the itinerary and even added an extra stop in Locorotondo (sorry I wasn’t there at Christmas!) This tour will be the highlight of my whole trip to Italy, with many thanks to Stefano for making this so! If you’re in Puglia, don’t miss this opportunity to have a personal instruction to these special locations!
