Pico Do Areeiro
The peak of Arrieiro is the highest peak accessible by car on the island of Madeira. Every day it offers an incredible and different panorama provided by mother nature. It has an altitude of 1810 meters of altitude.
Ribeiro Frio
In the heart of the Madeira Natural Park and with a fantastic forest around this valley.
Balcoes de Ribeiro Frio
The Balcões Viewpoint is located at the end of Vereda dos Balcões. Starting at Ribeiro Frio, this small trail follows the Levada da Serra do Faial, giving access to the Miradouro dos Balcões. From this viewpoint you can enjoy magnificent views over the Ribeira da Metade valley. You can also see the Cordillera Central of the island, including the two highest peaks, Pico do Areeiro and Pico Ruivo, as well as, on a clear day, the cliff of Penha D'Águia.
Santana
The Centro de Casas Tradicionais de Santana features some of Santana's typical houses. We also visited typical inhabited houses. Close to Santana City Hall is the Santana Traditional Houses Center. It is a preservation area, expanded by the municipality of Santana, in memory of the local heritage. Here we find some typical Santana houses, all adapted to current use, where you can buy a wide variety of local products and traditional handicrafts.
Miradouro do Teleferico das Achadas da Cruz
The north coast of the island of Madeira is rich in landscapes where the greatness of the mountains, covered in a dense mantle of green forest, contrasts with the vivid blue of the ocean. This is the case of the scenery that opens up before our eyes at the Quinta do Furão viewpoint. This viewpoint is situated on the cliff top of Achada do Gramacho. This privileged location guarantees an unequalled panoramic view over the jagged profile of the northeast coast, whose coastline is marked here by the imposing rocky cliffs.
Ponta de Sao Lourenco
Ponta de São Lourenço is one of the last nearly untouched places in Madeira. Located in the eastern part of the island, this is the place where a fantastic combination of rocks, sea and nature created one of Mother Nature’s masterpieces. You can climb up the rocks and see very little evidence of man’s changes to the island. There are excellent views over both the northern and southern sides of the island and, when the weather conditions allow it, you can even see Porto Santo Island.
Miradouro do guindaste
Fantastic sea views and cliffs of the north coast.
Engenhos do Norte
Visiting the historic Companhia dos Engenhos do Norte, in the village of Porto da Cruz, is experiencing one of the main living evidences of the glorious sugar production of the island, at the beginning of the 20th century.
