What to expect
Los Cristianos Harbour
PASSPORTS IMPORTANT !!! We depart from your hotel at approximately 07:00 AM to the port of Los Cristianos. There the ferry of the company "Fred Olsen" will be waiting for us to take us to San Sebastián de La Gomera, the capital of the island.
Roque de Agando
Once in La Gomera, we will take the southern route and make a brief stop next to the Roque de Agando, a curious rock formation typical of the island. Its origin is the magma of the volcanoes that shaped the island and which, over time, has been eroded to what we can see today. It is a unique witness to what happened on La Gomera millions of years ago and offers spectacular views, especially from the base of the Roque.
Parque Nacional de Garajonay
We will continue to the heart of the Garajonay National Park, which contains one of the most important laurel forests in the Canary Islands and, therefore, in the world. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. We will take a leisurely stroll through the forests of the National Park, witnessing the contrast between the lush evergreen forest and the surrounding arid landscapes of the island. An authentic relic of the past that preserves part of the flora that inhabited the Mediterranean lands during the Cenozoic Era (formerly known as the Tertiary Era) and that disappeared from continental Europe due to climatic changes that hardly affected the islands due to their remote geographical location. A unique experience where you will feel a powerful connection with the majesty and tranquillity of wild nature.
Las Rosas
We will continue our route through Agulo, a beautiful northern municipality open to the Atlantic Ocean, with the peak of El Teide always present in its landscape. This is the smallest municipality on the island of La Gomera, nestled at the foot of a great basalt wall and forming a beautiful green "balcony" overlooking the sea. This village is considered to be "El bombón de La Gomera" (The sweet of La Gomera) thanks to its undeniable attractiveness and its well-kept appearance. Agulo is full of pleasant cobbled streets and beautiful tiled houses with vegetable gardens around them.
San Sebastian de la Gomera
We will return to the island's capital, San Sebastian, a city full of culture and tradition. Its old town has more than five hundred years of history. The traces of Christopher Columbus' discovery of the "New World" and the conquest of the island by the kingdom of Castile make San Sebastian a unique and special place in the Canary Islands and in the history of civilisation.
Torre Del Conde
In San Sebastian, as traces of its history, the Torre del Conde, a fortress of medieval origin and the oldest preserved construction on the islands, stands out.
Church of the Assumption
The church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, where we can delight in the result of the mixture of Gothic and Canarian styles, a true museum of sacred art; the hermitage of San Sebastián, built around 1530 or the so-called Casa de la Aguada, with its well, from which legend has it that Christopher Columbus took the water with which the new continent was baptised. San Sebastián de La Gomera keeps the island's patron saint, the Virgin of Guadalupe, in her hermitage in Puntallana. Every five years she goes out in procession to all the municipalities of La Gomera, attracting thousands of faithful and curious people to her festivities. San Sebastián is an exceptional place with very good examples of its past. It is dotted with beautiful buildings of traditional Canarian architecture, with architectural examples that reveal the great religious, social, political and military activity that has been the main feature of this settlement for more than five centuries.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
