Located at 16 Esplanade de la Tourette, St. Laurent is a church in the Provence Romanesque style of architecture. It was established as a fisherman' parish and erected over the remnants of a temple of Apollo.
Centre de la Vieille Charite
La Vieille Charité is a former almshouse, now functioning as a museum and cultural center, located in the heart of the old quarter of Pannier in Marseille in the south of France.
Jardin des Vestiges
The Jardin des Vestiges is a garden containing the archaeological remains of the ancient port of Marseille, France. The site is located in the 1st arrondissement, behind the shopping arcade in the Centre Bourse. Classified as a French historical monument, it was excavated archaeologically in 1967 and officially opened on 17 October 2009. The site was part of the ancient Greek city of Massalia. It includes parts of the ancient port and city walls, with remains of three square towers and a gateway dating back to the second or third century BC.
La Canebiere
The Canebière is a kilometre-longshopping avenue in the centre of Marseille that stretches from the Eglise des Réformésto the Vieux-Port and, since 1927, has included the Rue Noailles and the Allées de Meilhan. Its name comes from the Provençal word canebiera, which means “chènevière” (hemp field) in French, referring to the economic activity of Marseille. The city was indeed one of the largest hemp trading posts in the world for the manufacture and trade of slings and ropes for sailing ships.
