Fortaleza de São João Baptista do Pico

This epic tour will start at the majestic Pico´s Fortress, one of the highest points of Funchal´s old city walls, Fort São João Batista, more commonly known as Pico Fortress, and ending at the president of Madeira official house. The fort was built between 1632 and 1640 when Portugal and Spain were under the same rule. This construction was built and used to protect the people and the land against pirate attacks. A brief stop will be made at the fort. During this stop prepare to be amazed by a panoramic view of the city of Funchal.

Funchal Cathedral

The second shortstop will be at Funchal´s Cathedral, having been built in the late 15th century, this is one of the few structures that survived the period of colonization of Madeira.

Mercado dos Lavradores

A mandatory stop at the Farmer’s Market will be made because this historical place is one of Madeira’s business cards. At this pit stop be prepared to see, taste, and enjoy one of the most typical fruits, and vegetables in Madeira. All sorts of products are sold here, from produce, fish, plants, spices you name it and you´ll find the best that Madeira has to offer.

Barreirinha Bar Café

Last but not least important, a stop will be made at the Barreinhas’s bar, where one can enjoy a great snack while enjoying one of the best sea views in Funchal.

We had an excellent guide in Luis, he new his way in Madeira and brought us to a number of interesting sites in the old town. He made this Tuk-Tuk tour very exciting. He then made sure to bring us to hidden Madeira tasting cave underneath a thrift store where there were 1000 of bottles of the local fortified wine which we tasted for free. After that we wanted to taste the poncha which is a local fisherman’s drink and he brought us to the best bar in town which mixes it up fresh on demand , what a treat, We finished with his recommendation for local cuisine and he didn’t miss on this either. I would highly recommend this company if you’re in Madeira and want to enjoy the culture. The next time I would take a longer tour.

A great introduction to Funchal with Andrea. Despite the occasional semi tropical rain storm, it was still a marvellous 2 hours, good fun in the tuk-tuk and we learnt so much about Funchal and the Madeiran culture. Definitely know our way around Funchal and where to visit. Thanks again Andrea

We thought we had done every tour in Madeira but this was absolutely stunning. Owner Louis picked us up at our hotel and we went round all the back streets of Funchal and Old Town where no other tours can go. He was so knowledgeable and funny and we will definitely use his tuktuks again. He knows everyone and we came away with lots of cards for restaurants. Have recommended him to others already. Great to see a young business venture doing something different.

The whole experience was fantastic, from the booking of the event, to meeting up and the tour itself, proved to be very smooth and relaxing. Our guide, Luis, was knowledgeable, informative and flexible. The journey itself provided a great way of seeing much of the older areas of Funchal as the tuk tuk was able to navigate some of the smaller streets. We took in castles, markets, views, flora and fauna, public buildings, door painting areas, cafes and bars, all with excellent background detail from Luis. A great couple of hours, many thanks to Luis, would recommend it to anyone.
