Bavarian Alps
(Pass by)
This trip will take you through the picturesque foothills of the Bavarian Alps. You'll be able to see the enchanting Chiemsee, also called the "Bavarian Sea," which, with an area of nearly 80 km², is the largest lake in Bavaria. In Salzburg, the city of Mozart, you will have around 2.5 hours to see the city's impressive buildings, take in the vistas, and wander through the beautiful Baroque old town. Of particular note are, for example, the Hohensalzburg fortress and the birthplace of Mozart. The cathedral, Hellbrunn Palace, and the fountains are not to be missed. The old town offers many other worthwhile attractions, from fine boutiques and culinary delicacies to art, culture, and all else the heart could desire. The next part of the tour takes place in the summer only (from April until November): The tour will then take you onwards through the Salzkammergut to the Wolfgangsee. There you will have the chance to take a boat trip to St. Wolfgang, to the Hotel zum Weißen Rössl, and to visit the pilgrimage church. There is one more exciting highlight waiting for you on the return journey : a stop at the Mondsee, a location for the film "The Trapp Family." Be enthralled by this tour to Salzburg and the Salzkammergut. If you're visiting during the winter (from November to April), instead of the visit to St. Wolfgang you'll get to enjoy more time in Salzburg. During December you'll also be able to visit the Christkindlmarket.
