We enjoyed our ride up a mountain in Tuscany. We had about 10 people on the ride which was guided by Mae. The horses were well schooled on the trail and had their own cadence. They told us they were in charge and we were along for the ride . We did not have stops for viewpoints along the way. The highlight was riding through the village of Montieri on our way back to the stables. My horse ended up with a loose shoe on the ride back which concerned me. The tack was less than stellar but the horses had good dispositions for the most part. The Viator directions to the stable were inaccurate via google maps. Find the helipad and you find the stables which are not well marked.

Horse ride was quite average with none to little engagement from group leader/guide. Address details were minimal with only a link to google maps which led you to the middle of a road. Pictures aren’t reflective of actual ride.

We booked here because the description advertised it as a ride for experienced riders, with the possibility trotting and cantering - which didn’t happen (notwithstanding a lot of pleading)! so it was 2 hours of beautiful scenery but at slow walk which allowed the torturous, bitey insects to nibble at us the whole way. This was not the guide’s fault but the usual, inconsiderate, non-riders who tell porkies about their riding abilities (non-existent in this case) and ruin it for everyone else. So not a bad review for the stables but measures should be taken to prevent this from happening. On the plus side the horses are beautifully looked after and well loved by their grooms.

We did the horseback riding excursion and loved it! Beautiful town, hotel and stables. The scenery is breathtaking. The horses were well mannered and the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. We had lunch at the hotel restaurant, and it was lovely and delicious.

When we went it seemed like the barn had just gotten into doing tourist rides and weren't as well prepared for us (especially since we didn't speak Italian, which is our fault). We still had a great time, my boyfriend with no experience was put on a horse that did great for him. I came in with alot of experience but my horse was much less well behaved so I was not able to enjoy it as much. We rode for about 2-3 hours, which honestly is quite alot especially if you are not used to it - so book according to your skill and fitness level!!

Had confirmed reservation for 2 people to ride at 10am. Even exchanged chat with operator data prior to check that it wasn’t too hot for horses. Then drove an hour to be told they were accidentally overbooked and we could go up the hill and sit at the pool and ride at 4pm instead. Expecting full refund. Told on the way out by an employee of the farm that this is a frequent occurrence. Shameful!

When they say for "experienced riders," they mean "experienced riders." When asked about our family group, I had responded that we were "experienced," as I thought that meant, "we had been on horses." So, I signed the family up for a ride. It doesn't that, as it turned out--it means much more than that. It means being long-term, experienced riders, not your let's-ride-a-horse-in-a park riders. When we got to the stable, it quickly became apparent that we were out of our league at this place and that it would be dangerous to proceed with the tour. I returned to the reception and explained our confusion/disappointment, but the manager steadfastly refused to refund our money even though we had not even gotten on a horse. Of course, that is their right--there had been a misunderstanding of "experienced." But they simply wanted to keep our money instead of doing the decent thing and refunding it. I warn you, therefore, of two things: (1) be sure you are have lots of "experience" on a horse and (2) if something unexpected happens, don't expect generosity from the manager.

This tour was definitely a highlight of our trip and will be in memory forever! Caja was a fantastic tour guide, very patient with us and informative and kind. You can tell she really has a passion for horses and what she does. The ride itself was one of the most beautiful and scenic I've ever been on! Be aware that this is not for beginners! We were definitely going through some more diverse terrain and a few tree branches scratched mine and my partner's arms. Of course we didn't mind at all, it was all part of the fun experience! But thought I'd mention it for others who maybe aren't looking for something as "real." There was a rain storm the day before we rode though, so perhaps that also contributed to some lower hanging branches and muddier than normal pathways. The horses are well trained, but of course the are independent creatures with a mind of their own so you must know how to speak their language and adapt to their personalities as well. Helmets are required and they do allow you a little time to warm up with the horse in the corral before venturing out. Caja even invited us to a picnic in a park afterward and we got to meet some other riders. 5 stars overall, such a wonderful experience!

I went to hotel prategiano for three nights as a summer horse riding break. It was absolutely fantastic. The staff are lovely and the most helpful people, nothing is too much for them. The hotel is stunning and the rooms are comfy. The riding is incredible; all the horses are loved by the guides and well looked after. They are beautifully well behaved and the trails that you ride are beautiful! Would highly recommend staying here.
